In Puławy, historic buildings, museums and a variety of routes through the town and surrounding landscape come together. The Czartoryski Palace and Park Complex, an educational trail in the town forest and the blue-marked Nadwiślański Trail each offer a different focus. To find your way around, it helps to distinguish between attractions in Puławy and points of interest at the level of the Gmina Puławy and the Powiat puławski.

Historic buildings and museums in Puławy

The Czartoryski Palace and Park Complex includes numerous historic buildings, among them the palace, the Świątynia Sybilli and the Dom Gotycki. The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Puławy was a palace chapel. It was designed in the Neoclassical style and is the work of architect Christian Piotr Aigner.

The Świątynia Sybilli is considered Poland’s first museum of national memorabilia. It is open to visitors from June to September. The historic Domek Aleksandryjski is also open to visitors during the same period. As these are seasonal opening times, check the latest information before planning your visit. The Muzeum Czartoryskich currently displays high-quality paintings, military memorabilia, handicrafts and historically significant sentimental keepsakes. The museum also offers themed walks with a museum expert, dedicated to historic Puławy and the history of the Puławy Garden.

The Muzeum Badań Polarnych offers a different perspective on science. It is Poland’s first institution devoted to the Arctic and Antarctic. An educational program featuring museum lessons and science workshops for children and young people will run throughout 2026. The museums in Puławy thus differ not only in their collections but also in their subject matter: history and remembrance at one, polar research at the other.

Trails, riverbanks and the town forest

The blue-marked Nadwiślański Trail passes through Puławy, continues via Gołąb to Dęblin and is 112 kilometres long in total. The Puławy town forest also has an educational trail with themed stations. A green classroom complements it with benches, waste bins and information boards. This means that a longer trail extending beyond Puławy and a local learning space offer two different ways to explore the area.

On the Vistula, Puławy has a marina with a tower and a riverside promenade. Marina Puławy offers parking spaces for boat trailers; as service information can change, it is advisable to check the details before planning your visit.

Nature and activities in the Gmina Puławy

The Gmina Puławy also offers a variety of ways to experience nature and enjoy outdoor activities. An extensive network of cycle routes explores the landscapes along the Vistula; there are also Nordic walking routes and horse-riding trails. To the north of the Gmina Puławy, the Wieprz River, with its twists and meanders, offers favourable conditions for canoeing and relaxation.

The Czapliniec Fauna Reserve is a natural attraction in the Gmina Puławy. The natural lake Nury is associated with fishing opportunities and a rich diversity of flora and fauna. Strawberries are another defining feature of the municipality: strawberry growing is part of the local tradition, and the Święto Truskawki is held every year. The open-air festival offers numerous strawberry-themed experiences and attractions.

Culture and landscapes in the Powiat puławski

Several other attractions are located in villages within the Gmina Puławy. In Góra Puławska stands the 18th-century parish church of Saint Wojciech. Gołąb is home to an 18th-century church dedicated to Saint Florian and Saint Catherine, as well as a Loretto House modelled on the Santa Casa in Loreto. In Bronowice, a historic avenue lined with hornbeams is considered a remnant of a park and palace complex built by the Firlej family in the 16th century.

At the level of the Powiat puławski, the landscape opens up on a larger scale. This includes the Małopolski Gorge of the Vistula, described as unique in Europe. The Pradoliny Wieprza is known for its wealth of plant and animal life. The Kazimierski Landscape Park covers nearly one-third of the powiat’s area.
