Janowiec brings together Castle Park, views of the Vistula Valley and several cultural themes. When planning your trip, you can choose between scenery and walking paths, historic architecture and exhibition history, and recurring events. The ferry and bicycle rental add practical options, but each comes with different timing considerations.

Castle Park and events

The park, which covers about three hectares, adjoins Janowiec Castle. Its walking paths offer expansive views of the Vistula Valley, giving the castle grounds a landscape focus alongside their architectural history. The castle and park also host recurring events: Janowieckie Interpretacje Muzyki im. Jakuba Walaska is an international music masterclass; the “Na Drugim Brzegu” film festival and Białe-Czerwone Winobranie are also held there. These events offer different cultural perspectives. If you are planning to attend one, check the current dates in advance.

Church history and ethnographic exhibition

Janowiec’s original wooden Church of St. Margaret was already described as old in 1326. This is a striking historical reference that draws attention to the church’s early history. The granary dates from the 19th century and was moved to Janowiec from Podlodowo on the Wieprz River. It houses the seasonal ethnographic exhibition “Między dwoma brzegami Wisły.” The early history of the church thus sits alongside the story of the relocated granary and its ethnographic perspective. If you plan to visit the exhibition, bear in mind that it is open seasonally.

Local cultural work

Another cultural point of interest is the Izba Twórczości Ludowej im. Heleny Kozak. Its director, Zygmunt Kozak, has been promoting sculpture among children and young people for many years. This long-standing work extends the focus beyond architectural history and exhibitions to local cultural activity in the field of sculpture. Janowiec thus brings together historical themes, recurring events and an enduring cultural initiative.

Quest and bicycle rental

The outdoor quest “Janowiec – QuestOwiec,” led by Janeczka, takes about 1.5 hours and covers a route of around 2.45 kilometres. The duration and route length provide two different points of reference: the time estimate helps you fit the activity into your day, while the distance indicates the route’s length. Both figures are approximate.

The Gminny Ośrodek Kultury bicycle rental is located at Plac Wolności 1. It is open from April 1 to October 31 on working days and during the cultural centre’s opening hours. Planning therefore depends not only on the season, but also on the day of the week and opening hours. Check the latest details before making firm plans to rent a bicycle.

Ferry connection and wine themes

The “Gelderland” ferry connects Janowiec with Kazimierz Dolny. If you plan to visit both places, treat the ferry connection as a variable part of your itinerary and check its current status before travelling.

The local winery Winnica Janowiec is connected with the region’s wine tourism tradition. Święto Wina is also held annually at Janowiec Castle. If you would like to plan your travel dates around this festival, check the current dates.
