Nałęczów combines the historic Park Zdrojowy with literary sites associated with Stefan Żeromski. It also has an annual event, a wooden church in the Zakopane style, and a cycling route that starts in the town center. If you are looking for a hotel in Nałęczów, these different themes can help you choose the focus of your stay.

Park Zdrojowy: historic buildings and palm house

Park Zdrojowy dates back to the mid-18th century and is located in the town center. The grounds include the Pałac Małachowskich and the oldest historic sanatorium, as well as bathhouses and the English, Greek, and Episcopal cottages. The park grounds thus bring together several named historic features that give the place its distinctive architectural character.

Visitors can visit the palm house in the park and drink mineral water there. This offers a different focus from the historic buildings: here, the emphasis is on a specific activity in the palm house, while there it is on the park ensemble. The choice of location therefore brings together architectural history and a distinct reason to visit within the park.

Żeromski: workplace and memorial sites

The Muzeum Stefana Żeromskiego is located in the writer’s former workplace. It was built in 1905 as payment for the novel “Popioły.” The museum preserves the workplace’s original furnishings, as well as personal memorabilia, family photographs, paintings, and drawings. The former workplace and a collection of personal and artistic memorabilia are thus presented side by side.

In the garden near the museum stands the mausoleum of Adam Żeromski, the writer’s only son, who died young. It was designed by Jan Koszczyc-Witkiewicz. This site adds the family story to the connection with Żeromski’s work and the preserved collection items.

An annual event

The Majówka z Panem Prusem takes place every year in Nałęczów. Halina Bukowska initiated the event in 1999. It draws on the Polish May Day celebration tradition that was observed in the spa town around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The event thus brings together two time periods: its origins in 1999 and an older festive tradition observed in the town.

Landscape and cycling

Nałęczów lies within the zone of the Kazimierski Park Krajobrazowy (Kazimierz Landscape Park). The Jastrzębi Szlak cycling route starts in the town center. These are two different reference points for planning: the landscape park zone places Nałęczów within a wider landscape, while the start in the town center provides a specific starting point for a cycling trip.

Another architectural highlight

The wooden Kościół rektoralny św. Karola Boromeusza church is designed in the Zakopane style, based on a design by Stanisław Witkiewicz. Unlike the Park Zdrojowy ensemble, the church can be considered a distinct architectural landmark: the wooden church, its style, and its design are its defining features.
