A striking landmark for a trip to Intregalde is Cheile Ćntregalde: this 130-hectare protected area lies along the upper reaches of the Valea GÄlzii and spans elevations from 500 to 1,139 metres. It is part of the TrascÄu Natura 2000 site of Community importance. Limestone cliffs, sharp ridges and towers shape the terrain; rare plants such as edelweiss grow on the rocks. Edelweiss grows here at elevations of 500 to 800 metresāthe lowest growing altitude of its kind in Romania.
Limestone Landscapes and Botanical Highlights
Piatra Cetii is an isolated limestone ridge in the western TrascÄu Mountains, between the valleys of the Cetea and Galda streams. Jagged ridges, cliffs, rocky peaks and stony gullies define its shape. At the same time, the ridge provides a habitat for rare, endemic or protected plants, including orchids, irises and edelweiss. Distinctive rock formations and special plant life are found side by side here, and the natural experience is not limited to a single viewpoint.
Poienile cu Narcise de la TecČeČti is a two-hectare botanical protected area of national interest in IUCN Category IV. It preserves Narcissus stellaris, also locally known as ruČculiČÄ. The protected area lies at an elevation of about 950 metres near the Piatra Cetii massif and belongs to the village of TecČeČti in the commune of Intregalde. Access is via the DN1 and DJ104K, followed by a forest road and a footpath. As road conditions can change, check conditions before setting out.
Routes to Gorges and a Cave
Cheile GÄldiČei and Cheile Turcului are located within the commune of Intregalde. The DJ106H, which connects Intregalde with NecrileČti, runs through the gorges. The road from Intregalde passes through Cheile GÄldiČei; Cheile Turcului can be reached via its right tributary, PĆ¢rĆ¢ul Turcului. There is also a sport-climbing area in Cheile GÄldiČei. Check local conditions before climbing.
PeČtera BisericuČa is 320 metres long and contains stalagmites, stalactites, columns and moonmilk formations. Archaeological excavations have uncovered traces of human presence dating back to the Neolithic period. In the Middle Ages, the cave served as a refuge for shepherds from Ciumerna; in times of hardship, it was used as a church. The route there follows road 107K from Intregalde towards NecrileČti, then a forest road to SfĆ¢rcea, and finally an unmarked footpath. Road and trail conditions can change, so check access before your visit.

PeČtera BisericuČa adds archaeological traces and historic use to the natural highlights. Some of the routes described include footpaths; the route to the cave specifically includes an unmarked path.
Wooden Churches and Local Culture

Arhangheliā in Dealul Geoagiului dates from 1742 and is also a historic monument. The two churches provide different historical reference points for the communeās architectural history.
The ethnographic museum in the village of Ćntregalde houses old household items from farming families, womenās and menās traditional costumes, as well as documents, publications and photographs from the commune administration and local residents. The cultural theme thus ranges from everyday objects to stories passed down through generations.
