Barnówko’s palace park lies south of the village, by the Myśla River, and was laid out in the second half of the 18th century. With its fishponds, partly preserved stands of valuable old trees and several historic landmarks, the park brings landscape and local history together.

Water and Old Trees

The grounds cover 44 hectares, of which 36 hectares are fishponds. They were created in 1781. The water is a defining feature of the park: the ponds are not just a single body of water but occupy a large part of the total area. The dates also complement one another: the park was created in the second half of the 18th century, and the ponds in 1781.

Some valuable old trees have survived, including two oaks named “Guślarze.” This brings two scales together: the extensive pond areas and individual, specifically named trees. If you appreciate both larger landscape features and distinctive natural details when choosing a destination, the park offers different points of interest.

Historic Landmarks in the Park

The park complex includes the ruins of the palace, which was burned down during the war. There is also a monument in the park to a German soldier from the First World War. The park grounds also include the site of the last airfield of the 1st Fighter Regiment “Warszawa.”

These places represent different historical themes: the palace ruins, the monument and the airfield site are not connected to the same event. Anyone interested in Barnówko’s local history can distinguish between the history of the palace, the commemoration of a First World War soldier and the military history of the named fighter regiment.

Routes Through the Village and in the Surrounding Area

The red Templar and Hospitaller Route passes through Barnówko; the village is at kilometre 28 of the route. This places Barnówko along its course and adds a route connection in the village itself to the park and history themes.

In the wider regional area, the red “Wokół Dębna” hiking trail runs for about 25 kilometres. The two routes help with different planning questions: for the first, Barnówko’s position at kilometre 28 is relevant; for the second, the approximate total length of the hiking route. This helps you decide whether to include a route through the village or a hiking trail in the wider area in your plans.

Choose Barnówko as Your Destination

The destination’s main attractions combine parkland and history: fishponds and old trees stand alongside the palace ruins, monument and airfield site. If you are looking for a hotel, you can consider Barnówko as a destination and decide whether the village’s attractions should shape your stay or whether you would also like to include the hiking trail in the wider area.
