Three marked tourist hiking trails run through Dynów. A marked tourist route, around 17 km long, leads to five viewpoints and beaches on the San; most of it is accessible and prepared for cyclists. The viewpoints can also be reached on foot. Along with the market square, St. Lawrence’s Church, and the railway station, where a locomotive has been set up as an open-air museum, these offer a range of options for your stay.
Trails and landscapes along the San
Dynów lies on the high bank of the San Valley and is surrounded by the hills of the Dynów Foothills. The foothills take their name from the town. In the wider travel region, the San is considered a suitable river for kayaking, rafting, and fishing.
At around 17 km long, the route offers five viewpoints and beaches on the San, providing clear reference points for planning an outing. It can be used in different ways: the viewpoints are also accessible on foot, while most of the route is accessible and prepared for cyclists. Check current route conditions before setting out.
Two routes of the “Doliną Sanu” nature, education, and tourism cycling trail, designated by the Association of Tourism Communities of the Dynów Foothills, start and end in Dynów. The second route passes through Łubno and Nozdrzec, includes a ferry crossing, goes through Dąbrówka Starzeńska, and returns to Dynów. At about 22 km, it is longer than the tourist route, which is around 17 km long. If you are planning this cycling route, check both the route conditions and ferry service in advance.
Architecture and local history
Houses and townhouses dating from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries line the market square. St. Lawrence’s Church provides an older architectural feature: it is late Renaissance in style, was built in the 17th century, and has a vault decorated with stucco. Dynów thus brings together architectural styles from different periods, without prescribing a particular sightseeing itinerary.
Two combat bunkers of the so-called Molotov Line are located on Bartkówka Street. The first is a frontal bunker with a single embrasure, built into the slope of Winnica, near house number 18. Its designation describes two structural features: a firing embrasure and a frontal type. The “Śladami Żydowskich Mieszkańców Dynowa” educational trail presents the history of Dynów’s Jewish residents. The oldest known mention of the town dates from 1423, when it was called Denow.
Railway station and narrow-gauge railway
The narrow-gauge railway station in Dynów features a locomotive set up as an open-air museum. The station building is also noteworthy along the line: it is considered the line’s most impressive station building. The Przeworska Kolej Dojazdowa narrow-gauge railway runs between Dynów and Przeworsk. If you would like to include a train ride in your plans, check the current timetable beforehand.
Whether you are more interested in marked trails, the San, historic architecture, or local history, Dynów offers specific points of interest. The route lengths help you compare the routes described; you can also take the cultural and railway themes into account when planning your stay.
