Dębica brings together the city’s history, marked trails and a seasonal offering for ice skaters. The Regional Museum features a permanent exhibition on the history of the Dębica garrison, particularly during the Austro-Hungarian period and the Battle of Gorlice. If you want to plan your stay around a theme, you can compare these cultural highlights with the different routes and historic buildings.

Marked trails with different route profiles

The blue-marked lowland trail from Dębica to Góra Śmierci is 16 kilometres long, starts at Dębica railway station and can also be cycled. The green-marked mountain trail from Dębica to Jaworze Dolne also starts at the railway station. It is 15 kilometres long; the walking time is about 4.5 hours, and it can also be ridden by mountain bike. The lowland trail is therefore slightly longer, while an approximate walking time is also given for the mountain trail.

A shorter loop is the marked Zielona forest and cross-country running trail. The 6.5-kilometre route starts on Ulica 23 Sierpnia, goes via Las Wolica (Łysa Góra) and returns to the starting point. The estimated walking time is about two hours. Its length and approximate duration distinguish this loop from the two longer trails. Trail conditions may change; check them before setting out.

Separate from these trails, the Las Wolica walking path lies in the southern part of Dębica, with views over the city. Different details are relevant when choosing between the routes: terrain, length, whether cycling is specified as an option and—on two of the routes—an approximate walking time.

Buildings and city history

The Raczyński family burial chapel in the Old Cemetery was built in 1880. The Neo-Gothic building is made of red brick. The Gothic parish church of St Jadwiga dates from the 16th century and was extended in 1962. The architecture and building history of both structures help place them in context.

The former synagogue is also among the city’s historic landmarks: it was built in the 18th century, burned down in 1939 and converted into a department store after the war. These details describe its history and former conversion; they do not indicate that it is currently used as a department store. Together with the permanent exhibition at the Regional Museum, these landmarks offer a glimpse into different chapters of the city’s history, from religious buildings to the history of the garrison.

Seasonal activities and the wider Dębica destination

Dębica has an indoor ice rink measuring 60 × 26 metres, with 850 seats. Its facilities include skate hire and skating aids for beginners. Since the rink operates seasonally, check whether it will be open during your travel dates before visiting.

In the wider Dębica destination, Galeria Sztuki MOK offers another cultural highlight: over four decades, it has organised more than 600 exhibitions. Miejski Ośrodek Kultury hosts cultural events and offers educational activities and workshops in dance, visual arts, theatre and traditional culture. It includes Dom Kultury Mors, Dom Kultury, Kino Śnieżka and Galeria Sztuki MOK.

Parks are also part of the wider Dębica destination. Park Jordanowski has play equipment, a street workout area, an outdoor gym and a bicycle town where visitors can learn about road safety. Park Skarbek-Borowskiego has seven themed areas, including an activity area and an educational area. Parks may change during renovations; take this into account when planning your visit.

The southern boundaries of the wider Dębica destination are characterised by partly forested hill ranges cut through by stream valleys, gorges and gullies. For driving directions: Dębica is on the A4, part of the E40, and has the Dębica–Wschód and Dębica–Zachód motorway junctions. National Road 94 runs through the city and is a toll-free alternative to the A4. Check current traffic conditions before you travel.
