Voigtsdorf offers a short walk along the VOIGTSDORF CIRCULAR ROUTE; the approximately 211-kilometre Brohmer Berge & Randowtal Circular Route passes through the village by bicycle. The church, village pond and park with its cultural centre bring together architectural history, nature and events. You can plan your stay around a short local walk, a longer cycling route and the village’s cultural programme.
Buttel Church and the Circular Route
The Protestant church was built between 1835 and 1855 in the Neo-Gothic style, following plans by government building officer Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel. Fieldstone and brick were used as building materials. The church is aligned from northeast to southwest, with the church tower at the northeast end. The VOIGTSDORF CIRCULAR ROUTE passes by it. The walking route offers a view of Voigtsdorf and its distinctive, far-visible church tower; old trees surround the church. It is currently closed for structural reasons. Check the current status before visiting.
On foot, by bike and by the village pond
The wooden pavilion in the centre of Voigtsdorf can serve as a starting point for the short, idyllic walk along the VOIGTSDORF CIRCULAR ROUTE. The route also passes the village pond; along the way, you can experience the area’s rich wildlife. Right beside the well-kept village pond, the pavilion invites cyclists to stop and rest.
Events and buses
The park with the cultural centre of Voigtsdorfer Rettungstrupp e. V. is regularly the venue for entertaining events in Voigtsdorf, which are popular beyond the municipality’s borders. If you would like to plan your stay around an event, check the latest event dates before travelling.
Bus route 502 serves three stops in Voigtsdorf: Voigtsdorf, Voigtsdorf Ausbau and Lindower Weg. Routes and timetables may change, so check current service information before travelling.
More nature destinations in the Mecklenburg Lake District
Müritz National Park is part of the Mecklenburg Lake District and is characterised by forests, marshes, lakes and wide meadows. Its hiking trail covers the park’s landscapes and special features in nine stages, passing lakes, through ancient forests, past inland dunes and to the source of the Havel. Certified nature and landscape guides offer informative tours through the national park. These include guided tours in the UNESCO World Heritage beech forest at Serrahn and tours from the water.
The Damerower Werder bison reserve is also in the wider Mecklenburg Lake District destination area: on a peninsula in Lake Kölpin and in Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heath Nature Park. Visitors can observe bison there. The reserve also has a forest adventure trail with climbing activities, an ant house, an exhibition with tactile and visual displays, and a dendrophone. The nature experiences offer different highlights: the national park hiking trail explores the landscape in nine stages, while the bison reserve focuses on wildlife watching and its forest adventure trail.
