Puchheim offers several distinct ways to plan a stay: themed trails focused on water and urban nature, cycling routes, cultural attractions and the annual spring fair. To plan your trip, you can start by choosing a focus: are you especially interested in nature, would you like to include cycling, or are you planning your visit around the fair? A centrally located S-Bahn station and the weekly market also help you plan your arrival and get a feel for the weekly rhythm.

Water and Urban Nature

The 3.5-kilometre Wasserleben Trail runs along Kreutweg in Puchheim-Ort. Its nine stops explore the local water supply and the journey water takes. If you are interested in water as part of everyday life, the trail offers a clear thematic focus.

Opened in 2019, the Puchheim Urban Nature Trail has four stops about threatened habitats and how they can be preserved or created. There is also an area along the trail where people of all ages can play boules. Nature and recreation are two different interests catered to along the same trail. On the Puchheim Tree Trail, you can use your smartphone to scan a QR code on site and find out more about the trees.

The wild bee garden on Alte BahnhofstraĂźe was opened in 2021. To protect wild bees, a nutrient-poor meadow and a flower-rich meadow were planted, and a herb spiral, a sandarium, a wild bee nesting aid and a deadwood area were created. The different features show how the garden provides wild bees with habitats in a variety of ways.

Cycling Routes and Getting There

The Munich–Augsburg Cycle Route crosses Puchheim from east to west, coming from Munich and continuing to Fürstenfeldbruck. It was formerly called the Isar–Lech Cycle Route. A section of the RadlRing München runs through Puchheim along the Gröbenbach and the Großer Ascherbach. From the direction of Germering in the south, it continues towards Gröbenzell and Dachau. The two routes therefore differ in their course and direction; check the route details before setting out.

Puchheim has a centrally located S-Bahn station. For current connections, check the MVV journey planner. This lets you plan your journey independently of the cycling routes, without relying on a particular line.

Weekly Market, Fair and Local Culture

The Puchheim weekly market at GrĂĽner Markt in Puchheim-Bahnhof takes place every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you plan to visit during your stay, check the hours in advance. The Puchheim AUFTAKT folk festival has been held every spring for more than half a century. The festival features a large marquee, brass band music, Bavarian beer, regional specialities, shooting galleries and fairground rides. The market is a weekly Saturday event, while the festival is an annual spring occasion; check the specific festival dates when planning your trip.

On the lawn by the Puchheim Cultural Centre (PUC) stands Markus Heinsdorff’s “House of Cultures” installation. It consists of seven houses, each with a floor area of eight square metres (3.8 × 1.86 metres) and a height of four metres. The installation is illuminated from dusk. A monument in the green space by the sports centre commemorates Puchheim airfield.

Water also features among the local attractions: in Puchheim-Ort, the Kneipp facility on Alte Bahnhofstraße, level with the Feuerwehrwiese, invites visitors to walk through the water in the Gröbenbach. The Kneipp facility in Puchheim-Bahnhof is on Wiesenweg.

FĂĽrstenfeldbruck as a Regional Context

The wider destination of Fürstenfeldbruck offers further cultural and historical attractions. The Fürstenfeldbruck Museum is housed in the former monastery brewery and explores, among other things, the work of the “white monks” of the Cistercian order. The Abbey Church of the Assumption stands on the Fürstenfeld monastery grounds and is considered one of the most magnificent Baroque churches in the region. In Egenhofen, the Furthmühle mill preserves its grain-milling and sawmill machinery in its original, working condition. Fürstenfeldbruck district offers a wide range of hiking and cycling tours.
