Sénaillac-Latronquiére offers two distinct travel interests: architectural and everyday history, and active pursuits at Lac du Tolerme. The Sainte-Cécile parish church and Maison Marot provide tangible connections to cultural history; at the lake, options range from a walking route to seasonal leisure activities. When planning, you can first decide whether architecture, a route with a stated duration, or activities on and around the water should be the focus.

Church architecture with medieval elements

The Sainte-Cécile parish church preserves parts of a church building dating from the late 12th or early 13th century, including the choir area and the chancel arch. The nave has a single aisle; there is also a flat-ended choir and two chapels. The choir and both chapels have rib vaults. The church thus brings together surviving older features and clearly articulated architecture. The date range refers to the surviving parts and offers a specific point of reference for the building's history, while the layout and vaults provide further architectural details.

Maison Marot: rural heritage of the Haut Ségala

Maison Marot is an exceptionally well-preserved rural building from the early 18th century. It preserves objects that document the way of life of the inhabitants of the Haut Ségala. The building and its objects thus offer two perspectives: rural architectural history and the everyday lives of the people who lived in this region. Maison Marot is designated as a Centre d'interprétation. As this designation may change, check before your visit whether it is still current.

Nature Games: nature trail and activities requiring reservations

Nature Games du Segala offers a forest escape game at Lac du Tolerme. The programme also includes an introduction to instinctive archery led by a qualified instructor. A playful nature trail is intended for children aged 3 to 7. The activities are therefore quite different: puzzles in the forest, a guided introduction to archery, and a nature trail for the stated age group. Activities are seasonal and available by reservation only. Check the dates in advance and make a reservation.

Water sports and other activities at the lake

The Base Nautique du Tolerme rents canoes for exploring the lake. The rowing club at the Base Nautique offers introductory rowing sessions. Canoe rentals and rowing introductions are seasonal; check availability for your travel dates. An aquapark with fun and sporting activities is located near the nautical centre. Check the availability of this seasonal facility before travelling too.

Another option is the Tolerme zip line: it crosses the lake over 260 metres and then returns over 165 metres. There is an intermediate platform between the two sections. Access and operation depend on the operator's conditions, which you should check in advance. Lac du Tolerme also offers opportunities for fishing and swimming, as well as other activities. The choices range from activities on the water to pursuits along the shore.

On foot or by bike

The Circuit du Lac du Tolerme walking route is 9.1 kilometres long, is rated easy, and starts in Sénaillac-Latronquiére. The estimated duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes. This time estimate makes it possible to plan the walk as a separate block of time; check the trail conditions locally. A cycling route through the first foothills of the Massif Central in the Ségala adds another way to get active.
