Feira Livre, agricultural fairs, Forró and literature offer different cultural points of interest in Nossa Senhora da Glória. If you would like to plan your stay around a particular festival, check the dates for your travel year.

Feira Livre and cultural heritage

Since 2021, the Feira Livre de Nossa Senhora da Glória has been considered intangible cultural heritage of the state of Sergipe. Rather than focusing on a single building, this designation recognizes the market as a cultural practice. The Feira Livre therefore offers a different cultural point of reference from festival programs, which are tied to specific event dates.

Agriculture and events

From November 11 to 13, 2022, Nossa Senhora da Glória hosted the 14th Festa do Leite and the 39th Exposição e Feira Agropecuária of the Alto Sertão region and the state of Sergipe. Their names distinguish the two formats: one puts milk in the spotlight, while the other focuses on agriculture and livestock. In 2025, Expo Glória brought visitors, exhibitors and cattle breeders together at Parque de Exposição Cidade do Leite. These two dated examples offer a glimpse of the town’s agricultural event themes without anticipating a future date.

Forró and celebrations

The traditional Carnaforró took place from April 24 to 26, 2026, at Praça de Eventos; it was the 28th edition. The festival combined the energy of Carnival with the rhythm of Forró. This gives it a different event focus from the religious celebration of Dia da Padroeira Nossa Senhora da Glória.

Dia da Padroeira included a Mass, a procession and a Catholic music performance. The celebration on August 15, 2026, also included a community fair organized by the parish after the closing Mass. This sequence brings together the religious part of the program and a community celebration afterward.

Literature, art and local history

At Praça Filemon Bezerra Lemos, also known as Praça do Coreto, the 2025 Festa Literária de Glória (FLIG) featured book stalls with works by local and regional authors, poetry soirées, recitations and book signings. The XIX Mostra Albertina Brasil de Artes Sem Barreiras program included an exhibition of handicrafts, cultural performances and singing. The two event formats have different focuses: one on literature and meeting authors, the other on handicrafts, performance and music.

The Raid da Amizade combines a horseback ride through Nossa Senhora da Glória with a remembrance of historic tropeiro travelers, who used to stop there with their horses. The historical connection is thus directly reflected in the described equestrian procession.

Church and visitor planning

Paróquia Nossa Senhora da Glória was founded on February 14, 1959. Evening Masses at Igreja Matriz are listed for Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. Mass times may change, so check the schedule again before your visit.

Landscape and regional setting

Nossa Senhora da Glória lies in the Caatinga biome of Brazil’s semi-arid Northeast. The SE-230 road corridor is associated with the town; Nossa Senhora da Glória is also part of the Circuito Rural do Alto Sertão. This makes it possible to describe the destination both in terms of its landscape and its regional rural theme.
