San Martín Department offers a range of cultural and sporting perspectives: San Jorge is known for motorsport, San Martín de las Escobas for the Fiesta Provincial del Gaucho, and El Trébol for its museums and theater. Los Cardos Park and the railway history of Cañada Rosquín add further specific interests.

Motorsport and Festival Culture

The Autódromo Parque de la Velocidad of Club San Jorge is a nationally recognized racetrack and venue for motorsport competitions. These include speed racing, TC 2000 and Turismo Nacional. The racetrack is also considered a landmark of San Jorge’s cultural heritage and an icon of the region. Motorsport enthusiasts will find a clear focus here.

San Martín de las Escobas is considered the home of the Fiesta Provincial del Gaucho; the celebration shapes the town’s culture both regionally and in Argentina. One edition featured a gaucho parade, a crafts market, asado competitions, typical dishes, ballet and folkloric performances. Admission to that edition was free. The various events bring together festival culture, crafts and traditional cuisine.

Sastre also has a documented carnival history: by the 2025 edition, carnival had been held there for 64 years; it had also gone through various stages of development. This time reference distinguishes historical context from a statement about a future program.

Museums, Theater and Railway History

At the opening of the Museo de la Moto “Historias sobre ruedas” in El Trébol, motorcycles, other historical two-wheeled artifacts, advertising materials and related objects were displayed in the former railway station building. The theme therefore extends beyond motorcycles to include materials and objects connected with their history.

The Teatro Cervantes adds a venue with a long history to El Trébol’s cultural life: the Sociedad Española inaugurated it in 1911, and it has belonged to the municipal government since the 1990s. It is considered El Trébol’s most significant local cultural heritage site and is a regular venue for artistic, educational and social activities. The theater’s history and its current cultural use go hand in hand.

The Museo Municipal El Trébol preserves historical collections and objects from the city as part of its cultural heritage. Its history is closely linked to a former railway station: the city’s oldest building first served as a station before being converted into the Museo Municipal. The museum was established on June 10, 1993, by Ordinance No. 203 and remains in operation today.

Cañada Rosquín can also be understood through its railway history. The town’s development was linked to the arrival of the railway and the construction of a station in 1891. On November 15, 1891, the station was inaugurated along with the opening of the Rosario–Sastre line section. Together, these two historical details illustrate both the railway’s role in the town’s development and a specific date in its transportation history.
