Belgrano Department brings together a range of themes: the history of agricultural machinery, railway heritage, museums, and community events. Las Parejas, Las Rosas, and Armstrong each add their own distinctive focus. As you plan your trip, you can decide whether local history, agricultural culture, or an event program will be your main focus.
Agricultural Traditions and Local History in Las Parejas
Las Parejas grew from early workshops and factories that manufactured agricultural machinery. On November 28, 2012, Law No. 26,804 declared the town the National Capital of Argentina’s Small and Medium-Sized Agroindustrial Businesses. This gives the history of agricultural technology a special place in the local story. The Casa de la Historia y la Cultura del Bicentenario “Intendente Heraldo Bocha Mansilla” offers another perspective: its permanent exhibition is devoted to the town’s origins and history. In Las Parejas, you can therefore encounter both industrial development and its portrayal in a cultural institution.
Railway Station and Museums
The railway station in Las Rosas was built in 1889. The city government describes it as the oldest building in the city and a place of historical and heritage significance. Today, the former station houses the Casa de la Cultura Municipal and a museum. The building thus connects the town’s railway history with the cultural uses now housed in the same place.
Armstrong also offers a way to explore local history: the Museo Histórico Municipal de Armstrong preserves a growing collection of objects donated by members of the local community that document the city’s history. The permanent exhibition includes a section on the Falklands War and a memorial to the soldiers, particularly those from Armstrong; there is also a room for temporary exhibitions. The museum’s origins are linked to institutionalized relations between Armstrong and Osimo in Italy. Their family ties date back to Italian immigration to the Santa Fe region from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Events and Agricultural Culture in Armstrong
Agroactiva is an open-air agricultural exhibition in Armstrong, at the junction of the Rosario–Córdoba Highway and National Route 178. It is described as the largest open-air agricultural exhibition in Latin America and one of the three largest exhibitions of its kind worldwide. The 2026 edition was scheduled to take place in Armstrong from June 3 to 6. The exhibition is therefore a distinct event highlight alongside the museums and local history.
Armstrong Tierra MĂa offers a different kind of festival experience. In a 2024 announcement, the city government described it as a traditional festival and an attraction for local and regional audiences. The 2024 edition’s program included a static exhibition of agricultural machinery and local cuisine. These program highlights bring agricultural technology and food together as part of the festival.
Getting Around and Finding Accommodation
In Las Parejas, Las Parejas Camina is a municipal program for walking and outdoor exercise held in Parque Municipal. There is also an annual Rural Bike race in memory of the late Intendente Heraldo Bocha Mansilla. The two activities have different focuses: the program is devoted to walking and outdoor exercise, while the annual race is dedicated to cycling and remembrance. You can then compare accommodation options with the places you plan to visit.
