Silva combines the natural features of Parque Nacional Morrocoy with the local history of Tucacas. On the parkâs cays, relaxing, diving, and observing nature are all options. Mangroves and named cays add further contours to the landscape. In Tucacas, architectural history, a collection on the townâs more recent history, and the story of the municipal cemetery offer other discoveries. Nature and culture come together here without being reduced to the same experience.
Morrocoy: Cays and Mangroves
In Municipio Silva, Parque Nacional Morrocoy includes mangroves stretching from Punta Tucacas and Cayo Punta Brava, as well as Cayo Guanche, Cayo Paicla, Cayo Ănimas, and Cayo Boca Seca. The names bring the protected areaâs distinct features into focus: several named cays accompany the mangrove habitats. The parkâs cays are ideal for relaxing, diving, and observing nature. These are different reasons to visit: taking a break, diving, or observing nature. You can decide which of these appeals to you most for your trip.
Tucacas: Architectural and Local History
The Ateneo de Tucacas building was constructed in 1922 in the Dutch architectural style. The Ateneo also houses a collection of objects related to the townâs more recent history. Its construction date and style give the building a specific architectural context; the collection turns attention to the townâs recent past. Danzas Tucacas is also based at the Ateneo and was declared Patrimonio ArtĂstico of FalcĂłn state in 2010. In Tucacas, architectural history, local memorabilia, and recognition of a group based there are all represented.
The Cementerio municipal de Tucacas can also be placed in a longer timeline. It succeeded an earlier cemetery in the town, which existed from the 1890s onward, following the establishment of the BolĂvar Railway. In the Instituto de Patrimonio Culturalâs 2004â2007 catalog, the municipal cemetery is listed as cultural heritage of Municipio Silva. The history of the site is reflected both in the relationship between the earlier and current cemeteries and in its designation as cultural heritage.
There is also an archaeological site in the cemetery area, beside the ValenciaâCoro road. The 2004â2009 cultural heritage census lists it as publicly owned and names the AlcaldĂa del municipio Silva as the responsible authority. These details distinguish the archaeological site from the cemetery itself and indicate its location in Tucacas and its public ownership.
A Broader Look at FalcĂłn
In the wider destination of FalcĂłn, Cueva del Indio is located on Cerro Chichiriviche within Parque Nacional Morrocoy. The open cave can only be reached by boat; the route passes through mangrove channels, and boats dock right beside the rocks.
The MĂ©danos de Coro, also in the wider destination of FalcĂłn, offer a different type of landscape. They extend 30 kilometers in length and 5 kilometers in width through the municipalities of Miranda, Colina, FalcĂłn, and Carirubana. The âDunas de Arenaâ are the main attraction of Parque Nacional MĂ©danos de Coro, where you can go sandboarding. The Sendero Interpretativo GP/Sup Carlos Flores has five stations and starts at the parkâs main entrance. Thus, the wider FalcĂłn region offers dunes and a designated interpretive route alongside Morrocoyâs natural attractions.
