Bosco Luganese offers cultural and historical details and various ways to enjoy some activity: the church of Sant'Abbondio, a nature trail created by school students, a forest route and seasonal sports. This lets you focus your stay on architectural history, themed trails or sports. The season plays a special role at Giazz in di Pree.

The Church of Sant'Abbondio and local history

The parish church of Bosco Luganese is dedicated to Saint Sant'Abbondio, a 4th-century bishop of Como. The single-nave building dates from the early 19th century and was built on the foundations of an earlier church. The Baroque high altar also has its own story: it comes from the Church of San Francesco in Lugano, which was demolished at the beginning of the 19th century.

A plaque in the choir recalls that the entrails of Monsignor Giovanni Fraschina (1750–1837) are kept there. It describes him as titular Archbishop of Corinth and, de facto, the first bishop of Ticino. Old patrician and farmhouses scattered around and above the parish church add to the historic character of the village.

The municipality's history also provides context for the area: in 2004, the areas of Bosco Luganese and Cimo were merged into a single municipality, along with Bioggio's traditional village center and the districts of Gaggio and Mulini.

Nature trail and Aula nel bosco

The Sentiero didattico follows information boards created by local school students. QR codes on the boards let you access interactive quizzes and digital maps about the topics covered along the walk. This puts the content of the boards, as well as the route itself, at the heart of the experience.

Aula nel bosco is a place for families, tourists, hikers and sports enthusiasts. From the Canvì area in Bosco Luganese, you can reach it via a reasonably easy route: it is about 600 meters long, has an elevation gain of 20 meters and takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Conditions along the route may vary, so allow some extra time.

Forest route and seasonal sports

The Vita Parcours Bosco Luganese runs through the forest and connects with other paths. It is 2.7 kilometers long. From the cantonal road, turn left toward Pianazzo; the entrance is at the end of the road. The details about its length and access offer practical guidance for planning, while making clear that it is not the same as the nature trail: the two have different focuses.

In winter, Giazz in di Pree has a natural and an artificial ice rink; in summer, a soccer field is available. There are also public toilets, parking and skate rentals. Check which of these services are available before you travel. This will help you distinguish between the winter ice rinks and the summer use of the soccer field when planning your visit.
