Anyang offers a range of options for a stay: art at Anyang Art Park, guided cultural programmes and ecological attractions. When choosing, it makes a difference whether you are mainly looking for explanations of art and attractions or want to focus on nature experiences. The programmes differ in format and subject; for the APAP Works Tour and museum tours, you should also check the dates or schedule before travelling.

Guided insights into Anyang’s culture

Anyang Museum offers three daily guided tours of its permanent exhibition, with explanations of the exhibits. If you are interested in a tour, check the schedule in advance and, if relevant to your visit, whether reservations are required. The schedule and reservation requirements may change.

The “Monthly Anyang Tour” covers a broader topic: it is a guided tour of Anyang’s major attractions, with expert commentary from the city’s cultural and tourism interpreters. The formats are therefore quite different: the museum tour focuses on the permanent exhibition, while the Monthly Anyang Tour visits attractions in Anyang. Check the programme’s current dates before travelling.

The APAP Works Tour combines art with a guided walking tour. It passes through the forests and streams of Anyang Art Park, as well as the urban and everyday park and living spaces of Pyeongchon. The tour visits public artworks from the first to the seventh APAP editions; the project began in 2005. An operating period is listed for 2026. Before travelling, check whether your preferred date falls within this period.

Art and nature outdoors

At Anyang Art Park, 50 works by renowned Korean and international artists are displayed at various locations. The park also features artificial waterfalls, an outdoor stage, a plaza, walking trails and improved lighting. The artworks and park facilities offer different points of interest: you can focus on the art or explore the park’s other features mentioned here.

For a specific route through the greenery, Gwanaksan Forest Recreation Area has a 5.6-kilometre forest trail. It runs from the entrance behind Anyang Sports Complex to Ganchon Village in Gwanyang-dong. The stated length helps you assess the trail as a separate activity; plan it around a distance that suits you, rather than a walking time that is not specified here.

Anyangcheon offers a different way to experience nature: this ecologically diverse river is home to numerous aquatic plants and animals, and migratory birds can also be found there. Anyangcheon Ecology Story Center focuses on hands-on experiences and learning about ecology. Its programmes take place indoors and outdoors. The river and the centre therefore appeal to different interests: observing an ecologically diverse river on the one hand, and taking part in practical learning programmes on the other.

Restaurants, cafés and bars in Pyeongchon

Around Beomgye Station, you’ll find Pyeongchon 1st Street Culture Street. It regularly has a youthful, lively atmosphere, busking performances and numerous restaurants, cafés and bars. This makes the street another option to consider alongside art and nature experiences if you’d also like to explore places to eat and socialise during your stay.

When planning, start by choosing the focus you’re looking for: the museum tours, Monthly Anyang Tour and APAP Works Tour offer different guided insights; at Art Park, the focus is on public art and park facilities, while Gwanaksan has a clearly specified forest trail. Ecological programmes and Anyangcheon offer another distinct focus. For guided activities, check the relevant dates, and for the museum, check the schedule before planning your stay around them.
