Cycle Route No. 8 runs through Robidnica; a section of the Idrija-Cerkljansko Mountain Trail passes over Robidensko brdo. There are also cultural attractions at the Cerkno Museum and regional themes related to winter sports and cuisine. This makes it possible to get to know Robidnica through specific routes and the wider Cerkno area.

Cycling on Cycle Route No. 8

Cycle Route No. 8 is a circular route through Cerkno, Dolenji Novaki, Robidnica, Počivalo and Črni vrh. In 2024, the cycling route through Robidnica was designated Route 8. A gravel section climbs gently for three kilometres towards Robidensko brdo. At Robidensko brdo, the route turns towards Cerkno Ski Centre; two kilometres later, it reaches the lower station of the Počivalo chairlift.

The sequence of places gives the cycling circuit a clear shape: Cerkno, Dolenji Novaki, Robidnica, Počivalo and Črni vrh are all part of the same circular route. The surface and gradient are also specified for one section. Nine electric MTB SCOTT Aspect eRide 40 mountain bikes are available to rent in the Municipality of Cerkno.

Hiking over Robidensko brdo

A three-and-a-half-hour section of the Idrija-Cerkljansko Mountain Trail leads from the Franja Partisan Hospital over Robidensko brdo to Črni vrh. Robidensko brdo is at an elevation of 824 metres and is a checkpoint on the mountain trail. The trail is considered easy and suitable for everyone.

A historical entry in the route register of the Mountaineering Association of Slovenia lists Route 274 from Cerkno through Novaki and Robidnica to Blegoš. As this entry is historical, check current markings and trail maintenance before setting out. The difference between the two route types is clear: the cycle route is a circular ride with named stops, while the hiking route gives the walking time for a section.

Culture in the Cerkno region

The Cerkno Museum has permanent exhibitions on the Cerkno region through the centuries and on the carnival tradition of the Laufarji of Cerkno. Visitors can also find information there about the Franja Partisan Hospital and the birthplace of France Bevk.

The Divje babe Archaeological Park is considered one of the world's most important Stone Age sites. Visits are possible only with a guide and after booking at least three days before the planned visit. The guided tour and the required advance booking are therefore essential parts of planning a visit.

Winter sports and regional cuisine

Cerkno Ski Centre has 18 kilometres of groomed ski runs. The centre's ski school teaches children and adults skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing. These are three different winter sports offered as lessons.

Smukávc is a characteristic dish of the Idrija and Cerkno region. It is prepared with various seasonal vegetables and remains an everyday dish in the region. This provides a regional culinary connection for Robidnica without attributing the dish solely to the village.
