Veselé tells the story of very different historical periods. At the Hradisko-Podzámske site, traces of settlement were concentrated within an Early Bronze Age fortification. An archaeological investigation at the Hradisko site confirmed a medieval castle complex dating from the 11th to the 15th century. This means that the Early Bronze Age fortification and the site of the medieval castle stand side by side as two distinct archaeological points of interest.

Churches, Chapels and Biographical Traces

The Baroque Church of St Bartholomew was built between 1736 and 1743 on the site of an older religious building. In 1925, it was restored and expanded with the addition of two side aisles, making it a three-aisled church. The sequence can be understood as three building phases: an older religious site, the Baroque church and the addition of the side aisles. The rectory garden features 18th-century Baroque stone statues of St Florian and St Wendelin. The Škublič family chapel is dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross; Masses are occasionally held there.

The listed Veselé 93 folk house is the single-storey birthplace of Bishop Štefan Moyses and was built in the second half of the 18th century. Moyses was born in Veselé in 1797 and became chairman of Matica slovenská on 3 August 1863. The connection between his birthplace and his later office also gives local history a personal, biographical perspective.

Festivals and Local Activities

Veselské hody is a recurring local celebration held for the feast of St Bartholomew. He is the patron saint of the parish church and the parish. The programme combines food and barbecue with dance music, family activities and football. At the 2024 festival, events took place at the Veselé football stadium, Pizzeria U Kováča and in the village centre. In this way, the festival combines the religious occasion with a varied programme.

The RC Klub Veselé builds remote-controlled model aircraft and meets in suitable open areas around the municipality, where the models can often be seen. While Veselské hody brings together a variety of activities, the club focuses on a specialised technical hobby. Both examples show different facets of local life.

Location and Character of the Village
