The educational trail from Lakšárska Nová Ves to the Tomky recreation area links a named destination with nature information panels. A long-distance hiking trail also passes through the village; cycling routes, protected areas and Baroque religious buildings offer further topics to consider when planning your trip.

Hiking and cycling

The Závod–Senica long-distance hiking trail passes through Lakšárska Nová Ves. The educational trail starts in the village, within the Záhorie Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Záhorie), and leads to the Tomky recreation area. It passes by the Červený rybník National Nature Reserve (NPR Červený rybník). Along the educational trail, information panels explain selected plant, fungal and animal species.

The routes have different focuses: Závod–Senica passes through the village as a long-distance hiking trail, while the trail to Tomky features nature information panels. This lets you choose between a route through Lakšárska Nová Ves and a trail focused on natural history.

A map of the Záhorie Sever cycling route is installed at the main crossroads in the centre of Lakšárska Nová Ves. The so-called Kopaničiarska cycling route also passes through the village. There are therefore two specific points of reference for cycling: the map in the centre and a route that runs through the village.

Protected areas and landscape

Almost the entire cadastral area of Lakšárska Nová Ves lies within the Záhorie Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Záhorie). The Červený rybník National Nature Reserve (NPR Červený rybník) and the Zelienka Nature Reserve (PR Zelienka) are also within the cadastral area. This distinguishes a protected landscape area covering almost the whole area from individual reserves.

The Červený rybník National Nature Reserve (NPR Červený rybník) protects a swamp alder forest (Carici elongatae-Alnetum) as well as remnants of a marsh meadow with plant communities belonging to the Caricion fuscae alliance. The Zelienka Nature Reserve (PR Zelienka) is one of the last remaining interdune mire areas. The reserves represent different habitats: Červený rybník includes a swamp alder forest and marsh meadow remnants, while Zelienka is an interdune mire.

Another local landscape feature is the lake at Lakšárska Nová Ves. It covers 35,953 m² and is distinguished by its special natural scenery. The wetlands are subject to the highest, fifth level of protection; you must not leave the paths there.

Religious buildings and architectural history

The Baroque Church of Saint Lawrence was built in 1729–1730 and has been a protected cultural monument since 1968. A defensive wall with loopholes dating from the late 17th century stands around the church. The wall already surrounded the first church on the site of the present-day religious building, making it older than the current church. The loopholes illustrate the wall’s defensive character.

A Baroque chapel dedicated to Saint Simon and Saint Jude was built in the centre in 1754. Its year of construction and dedication give this religious building its own point of reference in cultural history.

When looking for a holiday apartment, you can choose what to focus on according to whether hiking and nature, cycling or religious architecture will shape your trip.
