Hradište Pod Vrátnom lies in the valley of the Brezovský potok. The village’s history can be told through a chapel, the church on Háj and an early medieval settlement site; for active days, there is also a marked hiking trail and cycling routes. There are various themes to choose from: religious architecture, archaeological traces, and routes for hikers and cyclists.

Protected Nature with Different Features

The Malé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area lies within the cadastral area of Hradište Pod Vrátnom. The Kyseľová and Mníchova úboč natural monuments are in the Myjavská pahorkatina. Kyseľová protects a rocky forest-steppe habitat with rare, endangered and protected thermophilic plant species. At Mníchova úboč, geological landforms combine with a thermophilic rocky steppe that is home to several endangered and protected plant species.

The two natural monuments therefore have different defining features: Kyseľová is characterised by its rocky forest-steppe habitat, while Mníchova úboč is also distinguished by its geological formations. Those interested in landscape conservation can explore these natural features alongside the village’s historical sights.

Chapel, Church and Cemetery

The Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity was built in 1845 on a hill in the northeastern part of the village, above the Vlčie jamy sandstone quarry. It was also used for church services while the church was being repaired after the 1906 earthquake. The church stands in the northern part of the village, on Háj hill. Its chancel has a three-sided end; a window with a Gothic vault has been preserved.

The parish cemetery surrounds the church and is well maintained and enclosed. Among its older features are stone crosses from the early 19th century, known as “dobrovodské” because of their design. A large stone cross at the cemetery entrance bears the year 1783 and the restoration inscription “Reno 1910”. Together, the chapel, church and crosses illustrate different aspects of the village’s religious history, though they do not all date from the same period.

Archaeological Traces and Local Memorials

A small fortified settlement dating from the 9th to 10th century was built on Tomišovec hill above the village, below a steep slope by the Brezovský potok. Its dating is based on pottery sherds that have been found there. Another historical landmark is the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in the Dolný koniec part of the village: it stands in a small park at the junction of the main road and railway and bears a chronostich dating from 1759.

The war memorial also recalls the village’s history: it features a statue of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and plaques commemorating local victims of the First and Second World Wars. The historic railway station is used by Stanica Haradicha as a community cultural centre for the friends and supporters of OZ Haradicha. The Hradišťanka brass band is known beyond Slovakia. Hradišské vábenie is a cultural event for local and visiting audiences, including children and adults.

Hiking and Cycling Routes

The green-marked Chodník Jána Hollého hiking trail, TZT 5107, runs from Hradište Pod Vrátnom via Dobrá Voda to Pustá Ves and is 18.8 kilometres long. Trail markings and conditions may change, so check both before setting out. Another listed route is 8124: it runs from Prekážka to Hradište Pod Vrátnom and is 13.5 kilometres long. When comparing the routes, both their different endpoints and their stated lengths are useful: the Chodník continues from Hradište to Pustá Ves, while route 8124 ends in Hradište.

For cyclists, route 5229 connects Hradište Pod Vrátnom with Brezová pod Bradlom. Route 5228 runs via Prietrž and Žuščíci to Hradište Pod Vrátnom, connecting settlements in the Myjavská pahorkatina. The two routes can be distinguished by the places named along them.
