Lake Jezerské was formed by a landslide. Its usual depth is 2 to 4 m, with a maximum of 7.5 m. This clearly distinguishes the usual depth range from the maximum. The Jezerské jazero Nature Reserve was established in 1967 and covers 2.18 ha. It lies in the southern part of the cadastral area, about 2 km southwest of the built-up area of Jezersko. The area figure describes the size of the nature reserve, while the approximate distance indicates its location in relation to the built-up area.
Lake and trails
A green-marked hiking trail leads from Jezersko to Lake Jezerské. A nature trail runs from Jezersko around the lake to the ridge, the PANORAMA restaurant and the Treetop Walk. This distinguishes a trail to the lake from a route that also takes in the ridge and other named destinations. The nature trail is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. If you plan to take it, check the trail markings and seasonal access before setting out.
A cycling route passes through Jezersko, from Keheľ between Reľov and Spišské Hanušovce to the northern slopes of Bukovina in the Spišská Magura. The cycling route therefore leads to a different area from the hiking trails to the lake and ridge. Markings and trail conditions can change; check both before your trip.
Skiing in Jezersko
The Ski Bachledova ski resort is located in the upper part of Jezersko. It has 13 regularly groomed runs with a total length of 11 km. The first figure indicates the number of runs, and the second their combined length. There are four ski lifts and one four-seat chairlift. The chairlift takes you to the ridge of the Spišská Magura, from where you can continue to other ski runs towards Bachledova dolina. Bachledova dolina is part of the municipality of Ždiar. The ski resort configuration can change seasonally; check the latest information before your ski day.
Local history
Three dates reveal different aspects of the area’s history. Historical sources mention Jezersko in 1590 as a manor farm or a clearing belonging to the Nedecký Castle estate. In 1611, Šoltýs Christotor from Spišské Hanušovce received a bailiff’s charter in Jezersko, granting him the right to brew beer. The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus was built in 1895. These three milestones range from a historical mention to a specific right and a church building, offering different chronological and cultural points of reference for Jezersko. A manor farm is an agricultural estate; a clearing is land cleared of trees. There are 305 years between the 1590 mention and the 1895 church construction.
