Stebnícka Huta lies in the Low Beskids, in the valley of the small Rosucká voda stream and on the state border with Poland. The surrounding area is dominated by extensive beech and fir forests. The landscape and local history offer two distinct perspectives on the place: forests, wildlife and trails on the one hand, and crafts and memorial sites on the other.

Forests and Hiking Trails

The surrounding forests are home to deer, roe deer, wild boar, bears, wolves, lynxes, black storks and numerous birds of prey, among other species. An encounter with any particular species is not guaranteed. Stebnícka Huta offers opportunities for relaxation, hiking and sports in both summer and winter. Two ski lifts operated in Stebnícka Huta until 2015.

The Hutisko–Wysowa, PL, hiking trail is 3.2 km long in total and leads to Sedlo Blechnarka on the state border. A 0.82 km section runs through Stebnícka Huta. The two lengths refer to different scales: 3.2 km describes the entire route, while 0.82 km is the section through the village. The local trail network comprises eight hiking trails with a combined length of 3.9 km; this figure is the total for all eight trails. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

Glassworks and Local History

The travelling glassworks in Stebnícka Huta was renovated in 1641, produced crystal glass and operated until 1856. Other former uses of water power included a mill, a sawmill, a fulling mill, a flax and hemp pounding mill, and an oil press. Together, these facilities illustrate different aspects of local working life alongside glassmaking.

The Church of the Holy Name of Mary is listed as a branch church in Stebnícka Huta. Service times and visitor access may vary. A memorial plaque commemorating the end of the Second World War is located on the municipal office building; the Voľarsky kameň monument stands next to the municipal office. A wayside cross dated 1862 stands next to house No. 72. The locations are clearly distinct: two memorial sites are by the municipal office, while the dated cross is by house No. 72. A Roman Catholic church was built in 1853; the wayside cross is dated 1862, nine years later.

When choosing a holiday apartment and planning your stay, you can weigh up the different highlights: the wooded surroundings and hiking trails, or the history of glassmaking, crafts and local memorial sites.
