Bešeňová reveals different sides of water and landscape: travertine cascades, geothermal water at the water park and views of the reservoir. A lone pine above the village and distinctive buildings complete the picture. You can therefore consider natural formations, water attractions, lakeside scenery and architecture as separate highlights when making your choices.

Travertine, Cascades and Chapel

The Bešeňovské travertíny comprise an abandoned quarry, located several hundred metres north of Bešeňová and covering an area of 3.18 hectares, as well as travertine cascades. Mineral water flows continuously over the cascades, giving the rock formations a natural sheen. The watercourse and the rock together shape the landscape here.

A well-known chapel stands at the edge of the quarry, where you can see the golden Bešeňovský Travertine. Check locally whether a visit is possible and under what conditions.

Geothermal Water at the Water Park

The Vodný park Bešeňová water park combines natural geothermal water with modern water attractions. The thermal water comes from a depth of more than 2,000 metres and is rich in calcium, magnesium, sodium and iron. Its origin and mineral composition are therefore as much a part of the water park’s profile as its attractions. Unlike the travertine cascades, the focus here is on the combination of geothermal water and a water park.

Lakeside Views and the Landscape Above the Village

A walk along the shore of the Vodná nádrž Bešeňová reservoir offers views of the water. There is also a paved path along the shore, used by cyclists and inline skaters. These two features offer different ways to experience the area around the reservoir: looking out over the water on a walk, and using the paved path by bike or on inline skates.

The Borovica nad Bešeňovou offers a different landscape feature: a lone pine stands in meadows above Bešeňová, with views of the surrounding countryside. You can thus contrast the view of the water from the shore with a panorama of the wider landscape, without combining the two experiences into a single visit point.

Churches and a Castle with Restricted Access

The Church of the Most Holy Trinity (Kostol Najsvätejšej Trojice) is notable for its pyramid-shaped form. It was built in 2001 on the site of a smaller church dating from 1850. The building thus brings together a clear architectural form and a traceable history: the present-day structure stands where the smaller church once stood.

Different visiting conditions apply to Kaštieľ Mitošiny. The building is privately owned and is not open to the public; it can only be viewed from the adjacent road. Check the access status again before your visit. This restriction is important for planning: Kaštieľ is not open to the public for interior visits and can only be viewed from the road.
