Vlachy offers buildings of cultural and historical interest and cycling routes with different features. The Renaissance manor house Kaštieľ Vlachy represents the town’s architectural history; further details tell the stories of bell towers, a church and a blacksmith’s workshop. Two described routes take cyclists through the town and surrounding landscape in different ways. You can tailor your stay to your own interest in architectural history or cycling.

Renaissance and historic buildings

The two-storey manor house Kaštieľ Vlachy dates from the 16th century and is built in the Renaissance style. Its interiors are also of architectural interest, with Renaissance and Baroque vaults. The building’s form, century and vaults offer concrete clues for placing it in context. Of the former farm buildings, only the granary remains. It therefore provides a tangible link to the estate’s former agricultural architecture.

Further historical details can be found in buildings in different locations. The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Vlašky was consecrated on 12 October 1991. In Krmeš, a bell tower was built in 1930 on the site of an older bell tower. The bell tower in Vlachy has masonry foundations and a wooden upper section; it was also used as a fire station. The Vlachy blacksmith’s workshop is about 150 years old. Together, these examples show different aspects of local history: religious buildings, the development of a bell tower and traditional craft heritage.

The dates refer to different events: for the manor house, the 16th century is its period of construction; for the bell tower in Krmeš, 1930 is the year it was built; and for the church in Vlašky, the date marks its consecration. This distinction helps place the buildings in time without conflating their individual histories. The blacksmith’s workshop adds an approximate age to this selection.

Explore Vlachy by bike

The green cycling route 5467 starts in Vlachy and connects with Route 035, the Liptovská cyklomagistrála. Known as Route 5467 – Vlachy–Ľubeľa–Hrachovisko–Liptovská CM, it is an easy leisure MTB route covering 6.9 kilometres. Its length, difficulty rating and MTB character provide clear guidance when choosing this route. As route conditions can change, it is advisable to check the latest conditions before setting out.

Another option is the route “Keltská výprava s deťmi na kolesách”. It runs through the village of Vlachy to the dam, along the reservoir and past the harbour to a white church right by the water. Its defining features are the sequence of landscape landmarks and the route itself. By contrast, Route 5467 is distinguished above all by its length and its classification as an easy leisure MTB route. Your choice can therefore depend on whether you are looking for a short, graded MTB route or one with explicitly named stops by the water.

For the cultural side of your stay, the manor house, bell towers, church and blacksmith’s workshop offer different points of interest; the two cycling routes can be distinguished by their respective itineraries. When planning, consider which of these focuses best suits your stay, and bear in mind that conditions on cycling route 5467 may change.
