Natural attractions to visit during a stay in Sutovo include Šútovský vodopád and the Mojžišove pramene, as well as the Šútovská epigenéza natural monument. The waterfall and springs can be reached from Šútovo; a path from the local football pitch leads to the summit of Šútovská epigenéza. This makes it possible to plan day trips according to the specific destination and the nature of the route.

Šútovský vodopád

The waterfall lies at an elevation of 830 m in the Krivánska Malá Fatra, about 4 km north of Šútovo. At 38 m, it is the highest waterfall in the Malá Fatra. A blue-marked hiking trail leads to it from Šútovo. Its elevation, approximate distance and trail marking provide clear guidance for an excursion to this natural attraction.

On the way to Šútovský vodopád, visitors can stop for food and drinks at Chata Vodopád. The hut is therefore a specific refreshment option in connection with a visit to the waterfall.

Mojžišove pramene and the nature trail

The Mojžišove pramene emerge from a rock face at an elevation of 1,140 m on the eastern slope of the southern summit of Steny in the Krivánska Fatra. Their water feeds both Šútovský potok and Šútovský vodopád. At 1,140 m, the springs lie considerably higher than the waterfall, which is at 830 m; at the same time, the two are naturally connected by water from the springs.

From Šútovo, the springs can be reached through Šútovská dolina and past the waterfall. The summer version of the Šútovská dolina nature trail is almost 9 km long and continues from the waterfall through steeper mountain terrain to the Mojžišove pramene and Chata pod Chlebom. If you plan this route, consider its length and terrain together when planning your day. There are six information boards along the nature trail.

Šútovská epigenéza

Another natural attraction is Šútovská epigenéza, a natural monument at the confluence of the Váh and Šútovský potok rivers. It lies within the cadastral areas of Ratkovo and Šútovo in Martin District. The area covers 52.19 hectares, is protected at the fourth level and forms part of Malá Fatra National Park. Here, the confluence and protected status define the natural monument; by contrast, the waterfall and springs are distinguished by their elevation and watercourse.

A path from the local football pitch in Šútovo leads to the summit of Šútovská epigenéza. This landmark in the village helps distinguish the excursion to this natural monument from the routes to the waterfall and springs. You can plan which destinations to combine in one day according to the route and terrain conditions described for each.

Plan your excursion and accommodation together

When looking for a holiday apartment in Sutovo, you can use your planned nature excursion as a guide: will you focus on the blue-marked trail to the waterfall, the springs via Šútovská dolina, or the almost 9 km summer route through steeper terrain?
