In the Bystrica valley, Klubina lies at the transition between the Kysucké vrchy and the Slovenské Beskydy. Local points of interest range from a nature reserve and historic technology to chapels and cycling routes. For a stay focused on landscape, culture or religious history, a clear first step is to choose the theme you want to shape your days and use it to guide your search for a holiday apartment.
Valley, elevation and water
The highest point in the cadastral area of Klubina is on Veľká Rača in the Klubinská dolina and reaches 1,236 m. The settlement is also described as lying in the valley of the Bystrica River. The elevation refers to the cadastral area, while the valley description places Klubina in the river landscape.
The Klubinský potok flows into the Bystrica from the right near Klubina. The Klubinský potok Nature Reserve is also located in the cadastral area of Klubina. The river, its tributary and the reserve give the nature theme a clearly defined geographical setting.
Traces of craftsmanship and history
At the end of the 19th century, a multifunctional building containing a watermill and sawmill was built in Klubina. The lower floor housed drive mechanisms, a saw frame, a mill room, shingle production and a grain screening facility. The former building thus brought together drive technology, milling, sawing, shingle production and grain screening. Today it is exhibited at the Múzeum kysuckej dediny in Vychylovka; the museum is outside Klubina.
In the lower part of Klubina, a wayside cross with relief sculptures of Saint Joseph, the Virgin Mary and Saint Francis was erected in 1911. It complements the industrial history with a religious landmark that has a specific date of origin and named figures.
Chapels and religious routes
The Chapel of Panny Márie – Povýšky (Povišky) brings together several dates in the local religious history. Its statue of the Virgin Mary dates from 1869; residents of Klubina rebuilt the chapel in 1961, and it was renovated in 1990. The statue and the chapel therefore each have their own historical reference points.
Around the Feast of Our Lady, Queen, on 22 August, worshippers from Klubina and surrounding villages gather there every year. If you plan your visit around this occasion, check the exact date locally before travelling. The Stations of the Cross in Klubina follow the access road from the wooden bell tower to the Chapel of Divine Mercy.
Cycling and leisure
A pavilion has been built in the amphitheatre na Kamencoch in Klubina. It is part of the culture and recreation complex “Výstavba amfiteátra na Kamencoch v Klubine” and is located near the Bystrická cyklomagistrála.
A relatively easy section of the Kysucká Cyklomagistrála runs from Nová Bystrica to Klubina. Cycling therefore offers different points of interest: the pavilion near the Bystrická cyklomagistrála and a section of the Kysucká Cyklomagistrála with named endpoints. Depending on whether you are more interested in the recreation complex or a cycling route, you can give these local points different emphasis when planning.
