In Balotești, treetop trails and water attractions sit alongside traces of local history and a varied landscape. For your stay, you can choose what to focus on: are you looking for recreational activities, interested in the area’s history, or would you like to learn more about the municipality’s landscape? The places and features below offer specific points of reference without prescribing a fixed day-by-day itinerary.

Recreational activities with different highlights

Edenland Park is located at Strada Cantonului No. 12 in Balotești, Ilfov. It offers 16 treetop courses of varying difficulty for children and adults. The difficulty levels are an important difference between the courses: the park is suitable for children and adults, but not every course is equally challenging. If you include the park in your plans, take these differences into account. Check the directions before setting off.

Eden Ranch has a 4,200-square-metre outdoor riding arena. For the courses, the focus is on their number and difficulty levels; at the ranch, it is on the size of the outdoor riding arena. These are different points of reference for distinguishing between the two recreational offerings according to their respective highlights.

The areas of Therme București

Therme București is located on National Road DN1 in Balotești, just outside Bucharest. Its location on DN1 provides a clear road reference; check the directions before setting off. Within Therme, The Palm Main Pool, Sands of Therme Beach and Pangea Park each offer a different experience.

The Palm Main Pool features thermal water at 33°C. The pool area includes a pool bar, a whirlpool and hydromassage beds. Sands of Therme Beach, by contrast, centres on a 30,000-square-metre area of fine sand, as well as a tropical pool, a beach club and a burger station. The two areas differ in their stated features: water temperature and pool facilities in one, sand area and other amenities in the other.

Pangea Park is a 3,800-square-metre green puzzle inspired by the formation of the Earth. This themed landscape area complements the descriptions of the pool and beach. If you choose to visit Therme, you can use these differences to guide your choice based on your interests, rather than treating all the areas as similar water attractions.

Church and monument: Balotești’s history

Balotești’s parish church was built in 1763 by Zamfirache and Elena and dedicated to Saints Nicholas, Theodore Tyron and Stelian. Its year of construction, builders and dedication provide a clear historical reference point in the area.

The Balotești monument was created after the 1989 Revolution. It commemorates local heroes from 1916–1919 and 1941–1945, as well as those of December 1989. Its form also sets it apart: the monument consists of two red granite prismatic structures and bears a granite cross. The church and monument therefore represent different historical references: an older building history and a later memorial to three specified periods.

Landscape in the municipality

The municipality of Balotești lies in the southern part of the Vlăsia Plain, also known as the Bucharest Plain. These names place the area within a broader landscape. In undeveloped stretches of the Vlăsia Valley, moisture-loving vegetation is prominent; here, the municipality’s natural character takes centre stage.

Water bodies and reed beds cover 184 hectares in the municipality and have contributed to the development of fishing tourism. This adds a connection to water and landscape to the recreational offerings. If you want to fish at a specific location, check access arrangements independently in advance.
