Jigodin-Băi brings together different reasons to visit: mineral water as a treatment, the legacy of artist Nagy Imre, and an archaeological site with sweeping views over the Ciuc Depression. Visitors considering the destination can therefore choose to focus on its mineral-water offerings, art or landscape.

Mineral Water and Treatment Options

At the treatment center in Jigodin, natural mineral water is the principal treatment element. It is 100% pure and contains no additives. Băile Jigodin also has a mineral-water pool supplied with natural carbonated mineral water. Another type of treatment is the mofette: a treatment room saturated with natural carbon dioxide vapors, used for circulatory and vascular conditions.

The pool and the mofette are therefore not the same: the natural mineral water is the focus of the pool, while carbon dioxide vapors are the focus of the mofette. If these offerings are important to your trip, check their current availability before visiting; offerings may change. This helps you plan your visit around what actually interests you, without treating the different applications as interchangeable.

Art and Remembrance

The Casa Memorială “Nagy Imre” is dedicated to the artist Nagy Imre (1893–1976). It displays pieces of furniture, books, documents and his collection of paintings. The memorial house thus offers a cultural point of interest alongside the destination’s mineral-water offerings and landscape. For travelers especially interested in art and the person behind the works, the collection is a concrete reason to include Jigodin-Băi in their travel plans. The exhibits may change; check what is currently on display before your visit.

Archaeology and Views over the Ciuc Depression

The Cetatea Harom (Jigodin II) archaeological site lies on the cone-shaped Dealul Cetăţii, whose summit is 904 meters high. From there, the view extends across the entire Ciuc Depression, from Sîndominic to Tuşnad, as well as to other Dacian fortifications. The site thus combines an archaeological theme with a clearly defined landscape feature: the summit offers views not only of the depression but also of other fortifications in the surrounding area.

The Băile Jigodin–Csihányos–Dealul Cetăţii area was listed in an environmental report from January 2026 as a protected natural area of county-wide importance, covering 253 hectares. This historical designation adds another perspective on the landscape alongside the archaeological site. The area’s name brings together Csihányos and Dealul Cetăţii; both names also appear in the route description for hiking trail 21MN19.

Hiking Trail 21MN19

Hiking trail 21MN19 starts in Jigodin-Băi at the Szikla mineral water spring, connects Miercurea Ciuc (Jigodin-Băi) with Dealul Cetăţii, and ends at the Csihányos nature reserve. This identifies both the starting point and destination area, as well as the trail’s connection to the archaeological site on Dealul Cetăţii. Anyone interested in a hike can use this information to understand the trail’s theme: it leads from a mineral-water site to the landscape and archaeology features that also define the area.

Jigodin-Băi can thus be assessed as an overnight destination based on the kind of experience you want: mineral water and treatment options, Nagy Imre’s art collection, or the archaeological viewpoint and named hiking trail. Which of these matters most depends on whether you want to focus on mineral-water treatments, the memorial house or the landscape during your trip.
