Ski slopes of varying lengths, a route with named places and mountains, and a fir-wood church offer different ways to explore Muntele Băişorii. For planning, the slopes provide specific measurements, Route 11MN04 a named itinerary, and the local parish insights into building history and earlier traditions. This lets you plan your stay around winter sports, a mountain biking route or cultural history.
Ski slopes by length and facilities
Buscat Ski Resort has six ski slopes. Slope 4 is 150 metres long, classified as a beginner slope and equipped with a small baby lift. The resort also has a chairlift with a capacity of 3,000 people per hour.
Specific measurements are also given for Pârtia de schi Muntele Băișorii: it is 1,200 metres long and descends from an elevation of 1,500 metres at the start to 1,252 metres at the finish. The difference between the two elevations is 248 metres. By length alone, this run is eight times as long as the 150-metre Slope 4. Since information about facilities can change, it is a good idea to check the operator’s latest information on slopes and lifts before visiting.
Route and road itinerary
Route 11MN04 connects Staţiunea Muntele Băișorii with Moara de Pădure and passes through Muntele Bocului and Muntele Filii. The route is recommended for mountain biking. Its named endpoints and mountain sections provide a specific point of reference if you would like to include this activity in your travel plans.
The road approach is described from Băișoara: there, a modernised road branches off from the DJ 107M. It runs via Valea Ierta for ten kilometres to the village of Muntele Băișorii, and from there continues for another two kilometres to Muntele Buscat. The distances therefore refer to two successive sections. Since road conditions can change, it is advisable to check them before setting out.
Church and an earlier Christmas tradition
The Church of Sfinţii Arhangheli Mihail şi Gavriil in Muntele Băișorii was built of fir wood, with a stone foundation and a sheet-metal roof. Its foundation stone was laid and construction took place from 1951 to 1960. The parish of Muntele Băișorii is among the oldest parishes in these mountain regions. The church building itself and the history of the parish are therefore both cultural points of interest in the area.
Another aspect is the former tradition of the Irozii. During the Christmas carolling season, young people in costume performed a religious play in Muntele Băișorii. Its connection to Christmas carolling and its performance by young people distinguish this tradition from the church’s building history: the focus here is a religious play, not the building.
