When planning a trip to Sînmartin, it is worth looking at its different historical layers: archaeological evidence dates back to the Neolithic, while local history and buildings add later dates. There are also cycling and nature activities to enjoy.

Archaeological Traces and Local History

Near Sânmartin–Dealul Corhan, a Bronze Age settlement lies 500 metres south of the village boundary. There is also a Bronze Age settlement on the northern edge of the village, at the site of the former CAP building complex. It lies on the second terrace of the Crișul Repede, on the left bank of the Peța stream and in a floodplain landscape. These descriptions provide specific directions to the different sites.

The archaeological evidence in the Sânmartin area spans the Neolithic, Bronze Age, early Hallstatt period, pre-Roman period of the free Dacians, Roman period, Ostrogothic period and the period of Slavic tribes. Local history also provides chronological reference points: in 1228, a mill in Sânmartin, fed by the Peța stream, was mentioned. The name Sânmartin has appeared in written records since the late 13th century and is associated with the long-standing use of the thermal water.
