Băile Felix combines thermal water attractions with a natural world where a special water lily and other plants grow. There are also trails in Felix Forest, a limestone cave nearby and traces of cultural history. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay here, you can first decide whether water, nature, outdoor activities or culture will be the main focus of your trip.

Thermal Waters and a Water Lily with Its Own Rhythm

The spring temperatures of the mineral waters in Băile Felix range from 40 to 49 °C; the waters are classified as oligomineral. The thermal water lily reveals another aspect of the local natural environment: it appears on the water’s surface from April to the end of October. Its flowers open at dusk and close in the morning. For nature enthusiasts, this means both a seasonal period and a daily rhythm.

The thermal water lily (Nymphaea lotus var. Thermalis) was declared a natural monument in 1931. In 2015, the first plants of this species were relocated to the Lacul cu Nuferi nature reserve in Băile Felix. The two years mark different milestones: 1931 for its designation as a natural monument, and 2015 for the relocation of the first plants to the reserve.

The plant life is also diverse. In a microclimate shaped by thermal springs, the white water lily (Nymphaea alba), Indian lotus (Nelumbo nucifera), thermal water lily and bald cypress (Taxodium distichum) grow. These species add a distinctive dimension to the nature theme alongside the mineral waters and their spring temperatures.

Pools and Water Activities

Aqua Park President has 13 indoor pools and five outdoor pools with thermal water. There are also slides, a wave pool and a volleyball court. The indoor and outdoor pools provide two distinct types of pool, while the slides and wave pool add other water activities.

Forest, Cave and Outdoor Activities

Felix Forest near Băile Felix has trails for walking and hiking, as well as a jogging track. The Betfia Cave, an 86-metre-deep limestone cave with a bat colony, is located nearby. The forest trails and the cave appeal to different nature interests: outdoor exercise on the one hand, and a geological attraction with a bat colony on the other.

ATV excursions are possible in the forest around Băile Felix and on the surrounding hills. Horse-riding excursions in natural surroundings are also offered; trips by wagon or carriage can be arranged on request. Walking, hiking or jogging, an ATV ride and a horseback ride offer different ways to experience the area. Wagon or carriage rides are arranged on request.

Wooden Churches and Cultural Traces

There are also specific points of interest for a cultural focus. Romania’s 2010 list of historic monuments includes the wooden church “Sf. Arhangheli” in Băile Felix. The wooden church of Brusturi in Băile Felix bears an inscription dated 1785. The monuments list and the date on the inscription provide two historical reference points, without requiring a fixed sightseeing itinerary.
