Krzywin combines a Gothic parish church with two cycling routes that differ in their course and length. It also has a connection to nature through two Natura 2000 sites, each of which covers part of the village. When planning your stay, you can decide whether architectural history, cycling or both should shape it.
Gothic Parish Church and Art
The parish church pw. Niepokalanego Serca NMP in Krzywin is a Gothic building from the 15th century, built from fieldstones and bricks. Its ground plan is quadrangular; the wooden tower is incorporated into the nave. This describes a distinctive architectural form: the tower is part of the church building rather than standing beside it as a separate structure.
The church also preserves a decorative tracery gable from the 16th century and has a bell dating from 1937. This provides several points of reference for its architectural history: the Gothic building, the later gable and the specific date of the bell. A 3.5-metre-tall sculpture of Pope John Paul II stands in front of the church entrance. It was created by the artist Aleksander Fatiga from Krzywin and adds a work of local art to the architectural theme.
Cycling Routes of Different Lengths
The blue Południowy Szlak Łącznikowy runs from Ognica via Rynica to Krzywin railway station. The route is 8.95 kilometres long and follows paved and unpaved roads. The black Banie–Baniewice–Żelechowo–Krzywin cycling route is 19.0 kilometres long. It ends in Krzywin where it meets the blue cycling route of the Widuchowa municipality.
The difference in length is clear at a glance: the black route is more than twice as long as the blue one. The routes also meet in Krzywin, while the blue route continues to the railway station and the black one ends at its junction with the blue route. Krzywin is also an oval-shaped village on the Southern Connecting Cycling Route. These details offer several points of reference for factoring the routes into your plans.
Natural Setting and Getting Your Bearings
Krzywin lies partly within the Natura 2000 site Dolina Dolnej Odry, a special protection area for birds with the code PLB 320003. The village also lies partly within the Dolna Odra site, a special area of conservation for habitats with the code PLH 320037. These are two different types of protected area: one for birds and the other for habitats. The fact that the village lies only partly within them is important, since the natural setting does not encompass the entire village.
The settlement pattern and road network also help with orientation: buildings are concentrated along provincial road 122 on the Krajnik Dolny–Pyrzyce route, as well as along municipal roads. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Krzywin, compare its exact address with your planned focus—for example, the church or one of the cycling routes.
