The historic town layout gives Greifenhagen a clear connection to the past: its origins date back to the town’s founding in the 13th century, and its layout is still clearly visible today. Visitors exploring the town can make this historic fabric a focus of their visit. Another highlight is Gryfino’s riverbank on the right bank of the Eastern Oder, which serves passenger ships and water tourism.
The Oder Riverbank and Water Sports
The riverbank is also connected to the Zachodniopomorski Szlak Żeglarski network. The network links tourist ports and marinas in West Pomerania along the Oder, the Szczecin Lagoon and the Baltic coast with German waters. While the local rental service offers a specific selection of equipment, the sailing route places water tourism in a broader regional context.
At the Oder Beach on ul. Sportowa, you can rent water sports equipment, including single kayaks, two-person kayaks with space for a child, and SUP boards. Check whether your preferred equipment is available before your visit. A cycling path runs along the entire riverside promenade, where there is also a free public toilet.
There is an unguarded bathing area on the Eastern Oder riverbank in Gryfino, where swimming is prohibited. So if you are planning activities by the water, distinguish between the water sports available at the Oder Beach and this spot, which is explicitly not open for swimming.
Getting Around by Bike
The cycling routes can be distinguished by how they are described. One route runs from Jana-Pawła-II Street in Gryfino via Wełtyń to Gardno. The section of the 257-kilometre-long Blue Velo route associated with Gryfino is about 46 kilometres long. It runs mainly along former railway embankments, as well as forest paths and public roads with little traffic. The connection to Gardno is described by its starting point and destination, while the Blue Velo section is also described in terms of its approximate length and the different types of paths.
Concerts and Cinema
The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gryfino regularly hosts choir concerts and the Gryfińskie Organ Music Concerts. If you would like to attend a concert during your visit, check the dates in advance.
Kino Gryf is one of the smallest cinemas in Poland and the only cinema in Gryfino County. It screens film premieres and 3D showings. For a cinema visit, it’s best to check the current program.
Getting There and Finding Your Way
Greifenhagen can be reached from Szczecin via National Road 31. From the bus station in Gryfino, PKS Szczecin operates services to Szczecin and to all localities in Gryfino Municipality. This lets you distinguish between the road connection from Szczecin and the bus network departing from Gryfino. If you are planning a bus journey, check the timetable for your travel date.
