Broczyno offers several distinct starting points for a stay: a rotunda in the village centre, the palace on Lake Broczyno with its historic park, and the cycling route described in the municipal plan of September 2022. The dates range from a bell dating from 1595 to buildings from the 20th century. Whether you focus on architecture, historical periods or a cycling loop will give your stay a different emphasis.

Rotunda and Bell Tower

The rotunda in the village centre was built in the early 1980s to a design by J. Kirszak. “Rotunda” means a circular building, describing not only the design and construction period but also the building’s shape. Next to it stands a bell tower with a bell dating from 1595, from the former half-timbered church.

Palace and Historic Park

The historic palace is situated on Lake Broczyno, about 100 metres from the Czaplinek–Wałcz road. It was built in the second half of the 19th century in various architectural styles. On the lake side is an octagonal, two-storey brick tower with a cupola. The architectural features are easy to distinguish: “octagonal” means eight sides, “two-storey” means two floors, one above the other; brick refers to the material, while the cupola is the tower’s uppermost feature.

The historic park at the palace was laid out in the English style in the first half of the 19th century and covers 2.3 hectares. The palace itself was built in the second half of the same century, so the two parts represent successive periods. The dates allow for historical comparison, while the area provides a concrete measure of the park’s size.

A Manor House at the Edge of the Village

At the edge of Broczyno stands a manor house built in the Modernist style between 1925 and 1928. It now houses a primary school. Its construction period places the building in the interwar years and adds another period of construction to the examples from the 19th century and the rotunda from the early 1980s.

Comparing Architectural History

The buildings differ not only in age: the rotunda is defined by its design and circular shape, while the palace stands out for its various architectural styles and tower, and the manor house is Modernist in design. Together, these features offer several points of comparison for Broczyno’s architectural history.

Cycling Route and Lakeside Setting

A municipal plan from September 2022 describes the black “Lobeliowe Jeziora” cycling route as a 33.3-kilometre loop that starts and ends in Czaplinek and passes through Broczyno. Broczyno is at kilometre 24.5 of the route. The figures answer different questions: 33.3 kilometres is the total length of the loop, while kilometre 24.5 marks Broczyno’s position on the route.

A municipal plan from September 2022 also described a site on Lake Broczyno as suitable for development into a bathing area. At the time, it had a floating jetty and a playground. If you plan to visit the area, check its current condition in advance.
