The 75-meter-high tower of the late Gothic Church of the Resurrection provides Dramburg with a striking landmark in the city’s history. The church in Drawsko Pomorskie was built at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. Its pointed-arch side portals feature bestiary decorations. The construction period, tower height and portal design tell different chapters of the same building’s story. For architecture enthusiasts, its appeal lies both in the late Gothic form and in the details of the side portals.

Hiking trails with different starting and ending points

The hiking trails differ in length and route. The black trail “Drawskich grodzisk wczesnośredniowiecznych” starts and ends in Drawsko Pomorskie and is 67 kilometers long. The blue trail “im. I Warszawskiej Dywizji Kawalerii” follows the Wał Pomorski fortification line for 52 kilometers. It starts in Iłowiec and ends in Drawsko Pomorskie. This makes the black trail 15 kilometers longer; its starting and ending points are both in the town, while the blue trail ends there. When comparing the two hiking options, you can consider both the trail length and the location of their endpoints.

Another hiking route, the “Szlak Jezior Drawskich,” leads around Drawsko Pomorskie through moraine hills and river valleys, as well as along a continuous chain of lakes. It can also be cycled. At inaccessible or difficult-to-access sections, use the detours described. The route thus combines a description of the landscape with practical guidance on the route to follow if you explore it by bike.

Cycling and water routes

The black cycling trail “Rzeka Brzeźnicka Węgorza – wodospady” starts and ends at Drawsko Pomorskie railway station. The route is 39 kilometers long, with a stated duration of two to three hours. As route details may be revised, check the current route information before setting out.

For paddling, the “im. Ks. Kardynała Karola Wojtyły” kayak trail is another named option: its section within the municipality of Drawsko Pomorskie is 47.5 kilometers long. The information about the hiking, cycling and water routes offers different perspectives on the area, without implying that their lengths or modes can be compared directly. When choosing, it is therefore helpful to start with the specific type of route and the features stated for it.

Landscape and historical traces

A distinctive system of glacial channels shapes the landscape of the municipality of Drawsko Pomorskie. Numerous lakes, rivers or streams add to it; valley meadows, wooded field strips and avenues also contribute to the area’s landscape value. With its moraine hills, river valleys and chain of lakes, the “Szlak Jezior Drawskich” takes in several of these landscape features. The municipal landscape and the route offer two different scales for understanding the surroundings.

Individual buildings also provide historical highlights. Since 2018, the salt storehouse has housed memorabilia related to the history of Drawsko Pomorskie. The village of Jankowo in the municipality is also home to a granary built in 1906 and designed by Walter Gropius. It is the only unchanged building still standing from the former manor complex. In town, Fryderyk Chopin Park was established in 1875 on a right-hand bend of the Drawa River. The church, storehouses and park point to different forms of architectural and urban heritage.
