Sztynort combines palace architecture, a park, two e-museums and sailing-related attractions. When planning your trip, it is worth deciding first whether the palace complex and park, the museums, or activities on the water should be your main focus.

Palace and Park on the Sztynort Peninsula

The palace and park complex in Sztynort is located on the Sztynort Peninsula, surrounded by Masurian forests and lakes. The palace complex is a representative local example of the French Baroque layout type “entre cour et jardin,” meaning “between courtyard and garden.” The translation makes the term easier to understand: the courtyard and garden are the points of reference when you place the complex in its architectural context. The park of PaƂac Lehndorffów w Sztynorcie contains a neoclassical tea house and a neo-Gothic chapel. Together with the palace complex, these bring different architectural elements into view.

The palace park covers 18 hectares. In the 1770s, it was considered the largest park in East Prussia; Sztynort and the palace park were also associated with oak trees. The historical perspective is clearly dated: the superlative refers to the 1770s, while the oaks form another part of the landscape associations.

Two E-Museums with Different Focuses

MEMUAK in Sztynort comprises two e-museums: the eMuzeum Úrodowiska and the eMuzeum ûeglarstwa. The eMuzeum Úrodowiska exhibition focuses primarily on the diversity of local flora and fauna and the landscape; the museum also offers interactive activities for visitors. The eMuzeum ûeglarstwa has a different focus: its multimedia exhibition covers the history of sailing and yacht handling. Nature and landscape themes are thus presented alongside maritime history and technology. If you plan to make a visit, check the current arrangements for visitors, particularly for the interactive activities.

Water Activities and a Cycling Route

Port Nowy Sztynort in Sztynort DuĆŒy has more than 450 moorings. Motorboat courses may be available on site; check the current offerings before planning or booking a course. Diving trips may depart from Sztynort. Here too, it is advisable to confirm availability for your preferred time before making plans. The course and the trip can therefore be considered as separate options for your travel planning, without assuming they are part of a set program.

A cycling route passes through Sztynort. Along the route is the bridge between Lake Dargin and Lake Kirsajty, which is considered a special kind of “observation tower.” This adds a specific landscape reference along the route to the palace and museum themes.

Beach volleyball competitions have also been held in Sztynort since 2020. If a competition is important to your travel plans, check the specific dates in advance. That way, you can consider the event as a focus in its own right without assuming a particular date.
