Stara Słupia brings together historic memorials and a landscape that can be explored from different perspectives. Two questions can help you plan: are you mainly interested in architectural and cultural history, or would you like a hike to shape your stay? There is an important access condition at the manor house: the building is privately owned, and the park grounds may only be entered with the owner’s permission. Bear this rule in mind when planning a visit to the park.

Manor House and Park

A park covering around 1.5 hectares adjoins the manor house to the west. Rows of linden trees mark its boundary, and the park grounds contain a viewing mound. The mound is also within the park grounds, and access to it likewise requires the owner’s permission. A historic granary also stands beside the manor house. If the park is part of your plans, obtain the required permission before your visit.

Chapel and Historic Memorials

A wooden chapel with a sheet-metal roof stands in the village. Images and a statue of the Virgin Mary are inside. If you would like to see the interior, check access in advance. A large masonry cross commemorates the Church of the Martyrs Vincent and Anastasius, which burned down in 1797. According to the inscription, Walenty and Marianna Karbowniczkowie had the cross erected on 3 May 1841. The two dates refer to different events: 1797 to the church fire, and 1841 to the erection of the memorial cross. Beside this cross stands a statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary on a sandstone column; a chestnut tree with a trunk circumference of more than four metres grows nearby. Another stone cross stands by the roadside on the route through Stara Słupia. It dates from 1923.

Ridge and Słupianka Valley

A path leads up to a ridge through Winnica, a hamlet in Stara Słupia. From there, the view stretches across the eastern part of the Łysogóry range, including Łysa Góra and Chełmiec, as well as the western part of the Jeleniowskie range, with Góra Jeleniowska and Szczytniak. A route also follows the Słupianka Valley. The river has cut deeply into the loess soil, where ongoing bank erosion is clearly visible. The broad views from the ridge contrast with the clear signs of a continuing landscape process in the valley.

A Circular Route or a Long-Distance Trail

The 19-kilometre Trasa 2 circular route starts in Nowa Słupia, passes through Stara Słupia and other places, and returns to Nowa Słupia. The 19 kilometres refer to the entire loop, not just the section within Stara Słupia. The blue Tarłów–Święty Krzyż long-distance trail also passes through the village. This gives you two different route options to consider: a circular route with a named starting point and return destination, or a long-distance trail that passes through Stara Słupia. Check the current route and trail markings before setting out.
