A granary dating from around the mid-16th century is one of the oldest parts of the Czudec manor house and park complex. Together with buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries and the wooden buildings around the market square, its architectural history offers a distinctive perspective on the town. Trail descriptions add a hiking option to the cultural highlights. When choosing where to stay, consider whether you are more interested in architecture, religious sites or a longer hike.

Manor House and Park on Parkowa Street

The manor house and park complex includes a manor house dating from the first half of the 18th century, the Skarbiec granary from around the mid-16th century, an entrance gate from the first half of the 19th century, and a landscape park with a pond dating from the 18th century. The dates therefore range from the early modern granary to the 19th-century gate; the manor house and park date from the 18th century. The Zespół Szkół w Czudcu school is now located on the grounds. This present-day use is part of the complex’s current context, alongside its older buildings.

Market Square: Wooden Buildings and Events

Remnants of small-town wooden buildings from the 19th century have been preserved on the market square. Most of the houses face the street with their gables; some have arcaded porches. This reveals two distinct features of the architecture: the orientation of the houses towards the square and the design of their porches. The market square is also a venue for concerts, fairs, sales and charity bazaars, annual fairs and sporting events. If you want to plan your stay around a particular event, check the specific dates in advance.

Religious and Museum Highlights

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Czudec is a Baroque church dating from the 18th century. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Czudec is also a Baroque church. It houses the venerated miraculous image of Our Lady of Mercy, also known as Czudecka. The crypts of a church in Czudec are often called “Mały Wawel,” or “little Wawel.”

The Museum of Tradition and History is located in the cellars of the former synagogue. Its exhibitions focus on the Czudec community, its history, and its material and spiritual culture. Alongside architectural history, the community’s history and cultural life are therefore also worth considering as themes for your trip.

Trail Descriptions and Time Planning

A description from 2013 mentions the red Dębowa Trail in Czudec, which passes the historic Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity and the market square. It ends on Parkowa Street next to the Uznański manor house, which now houses the Zespół Szkół w Czudcu school. The black Czudec–Brzeżanka hiking trail starts in Czudec, is 24 kilometres long and is estimated to take about eight hours to complete.

The trail descriptions offer different kinds of guidance: the red Dębowa Trail links notable points within Czudec, according to the description, while the black hiking trail is described in terms of its length and approximate walking time. If you are planning a specific hike, it is advisable to check the current route and trail markings in advance. This will help you decide whether hiking should be the focus of your stay or whether you would rather spend most of your time exploring the area’s architecture and culture.
