Bukowsko brings together landscapes, local history and nature themes, with trails offering different points of interest. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between sights in the village and routes in the municipality: some points of interest are in the centre, while others start from Bukowsko or continue beyond it. This lets you decide whether to get to know Bukowsko itself or make a particular route the starting point for your plans.

Landscape and history

Bukowsko lies in a broad depression at the foot of the Bukowica mountain range, by the Bukowiec and Sanoczek streams in the San River basin. The depression, mountain range and streams give the landscape a clear geographical identity. From 1748 to 1946, Bukowsko was a town and belonged, among others, to the Ossoliński family. There is also a Jewish cemetery in Bukowsko, adding a specific historical landmark to the local story. Its time as a town lasted just under two centuries.

Murals and nature themes in the village

Murals in Bukowsko can be seen mainly at bus stops and also in the village centre. There is a mural on the wall of the Dom Kultury (Community Cultural Centre). Those interested in mural art will find several local points of interest here.

A place where you can learn about the flora and fauna of the Carpathians was created in the centre in 2021. Along the walkway around the square, information boards present the natural diversity of the Subcarpathian Foothills. The two nature-related attractions refer to different geographical areas: Carpathian flora and fauna at the learning site, and the natural diversity of the Subcarpathian Foothills on the boards.

Trails with different destinations

The yellow-and-red-marked “Szlakiem historycznych osad” (Trail of Historic Settlements) is 15 kilometres long. It begins at the Caritas retreat centre in Zboiska and ends in Bukowsko. You can also start in Bukowsko and cover the trail in stages. Its markings and endpoints help distinguish it from the other trails. Check local information about current trail conditions before setting out.

The “Śladami trzech narodów – Polacy, Rusini i Żydzi w Gminie Bukowsko” (“In the Footsteps of Three Nations – Poles, Ruthenians and Jews in the Bukowsko Municipality”) educational trail runs from Bukowsko to Kamienne. Its title refers to Poles, Ruthenians and Jews in the Bukowsko Municipality; Kamienne is a historic settlement that no longer exists. The trail thus links a specific destination with a historical theme reflected in its name.

The “Buczyna Karpacka” trail also runs through the municipality, from Wola Piotrowa to Bukowica. It is an option for hiking and cycling. The trails have clearly different destinations: “Szlakiem historycznych osad” ends in Bukowsko, “Śladami trzech narodów” leads to Kamienne, and “Buczyna Karpacka” goes to Bukowica.
