Wołkowyja combines the Zielona plaża swimming area with walking trails, a named hiking trail and a long history of the church. The route information covers both walking trails around the village and a route that places Wołkowyja in a sequence of other places.

Zielona plaża on Lake Solina

The Zielona plaża swimming area is located in a bay on Lake Solina. Facilities include a shelter for resting and benches, as well as outdoor fitness equipment. There are also two toilet cubicles and waste bins; free, unattended parking is available for cars.

The location in a bay and the facilities offer different practical points of reference: the bay identifies the lakeside location, while the shelter, benches, fitness equipment, toilet cubicles and parking describe the amenities on site. If a particular facility is essential to your visit, check in advance whether it is currently available for use. The parking lot is unattended.

Walking trails and the green PTTK hiking trail

The 2017–2020 municipal renewal programme designated and marked around 18 km of walking trails around Wołkowyja. Signposts were installed along these trails. An information board and a decorative post were also installed at the junction near the Ranczo centre in Wołkowyja. The figure of around 18 km refers to the total length of designated walking trails, not the length of a single walk. Since the markers date from the 2017–2020 programme period, it is a good idea to check the current route before setting out on a longer walk.

The green PTTK hiking trail passes through Wołkowyja along the route Lesko – Zwierzyń – Myczkowce – Wołkowyja – Bukowiec – Terka – Jaworzec. In the listed order, Wołkowyja comes after Myczkowce, followed by Bukowiec, Terka and Jaworzec. This sequence shows where Wołkowyja lies on the named route. It addresses a different planning question from the around 18 km of local walking trails: here, the focus is on the sequence of places along the hiking trail, whereas the other figure describes the extent of designated trails around Wołkowyja.

Church history and landscape

The first church in Wołkowyja was already standing in 1728. Construction of the present-day church began in 1973; on 23 September 1975, Bishop Ignacy Tokarczuk consecrated it under the patronage of Saint Maximilian Kolbe. The dates refer to two different periods in the village’s history: 1728 concerns the first church, while 1973 and 1975 mark the start of construction and the consecration of the present-day church. This distinguishes the early history of the church from the creation of the building that stands today.

Wołkowyja lies on Lake Solina in a picturesque valley at the foot of the scenic peak of Plisz. The lake, valley and peak are specific geographical points of reference for locating the village; the bay adds the swimming area’s location to this landscape. Together with the church history and route information, they offer different ways to tailor a stay in Wołkowyja to your interests.
