The Quest and its route description

The quest “Między Łoskiem a Prusokiem” begins in the parking lot by the Church of St. Charles Borromeo in Koszarawa. As a mountain route, it comes with a specific equipment recommendation: ankle-high footwear and comfortable clothing. The tour is intended for children, young people, families with children, and adults. If needed, ask locally for current materials or organizational information.

Church, cemetery, and woodworking

The history of the parish of St. Charles Borromeo begins in 1824. The brick church was consecrated in 1855 and is rectangular in plan and late Neoclassical in style. Inside, it has four wooden altar structures with gilded friezes, wreaths, and rosettes. There are 31 years between the beginning of the parish’s history in 1824 and the consecration of the brick church in 1855. The two dates mark different historical events: the establishment of the parish and the consecration of the church building. The rectangular plan and late Neoclassical style describe different characteristics: the plan describes the building’s form, while the style describes its architectural classification. Inside, four wooden altar structures define the furnishings. The gilded friezes, wreaths, and rosettes are examples of the altars’ ornamental details. Thus, the church’s history, form, and interior furnishings are distinct yet related aspects.

The cemetery also preserves individual traces of the village’s history: it contains a surviving tombstone from 1887 as well as a historic statue of the Virgin Mary.

Koszarawa is one of the places with one of Poland’s oldest traditions of making wooden toys. Other wooden household items were also made there later.
