Glinka is located in Żywiec County in the Silesian Voivodeship. Notable features of the area include the Geo-Park in a former quarry, a yellow-marked circular hiking trail to Bacówka PTTK na Krawcowym Wierchu, and the Wawrzyńcowe Hudy tradition. You can choose between a hike, activities at the Geo-Park and a cultural event.

Geo-Park in a former quarry

Glinka Geo-Park is located in a former quarry. The quarry's history dates back to 1927. A 220-metre-long zipline runs 30 metres above a ravine. The combination of the quarry's history and the zipline gives the park two distinct aspects: a historical background and a hands-on activity.

The Geo-Park also has two pools supervised by trained rescue personnel. The main pool is 110 metres long and 30 metres wide; the children's pool is 30 metres long and 10 metres wide. The main pool is significantly larger in both dimensions; the zipline adds a different type of activity to the pools. Their proportions also differ: relative to its width, the main pool is more elongated than the children's pool.

Hiking to Bacówka PTTK na Krawcowym Wierchu

The yellow-marked hiking trail from Glinka passes the hamlets of Kulówka, Kubiesówka and Długi Groń, then continues to Bacówka PTTK na Krawcowym Wierchu. The circular hike from Glinka to the hut and back is 10.38 kilometres long; walking time is approximately 3 hours and 16 minutes. The distance covers the entire loop, while the time is an approximate walking time; it is therefore a starting point for planning, not a complete day plan. Allow extra time for personal breaks and other plans according to your own pace, and check the local trail markings on site.

Wawrzyńcowe Hudy: Tradition and timing

Wawrzyńcowe Hudy bonfires are lit annually in the Ujsoły municipality, including in Glinka Wornicki and Glinka Tajh. The tradition includes storytelling, singing together and music played by Heligonka musicians, before the bonfire is usually lit at midnight. The proceedings move from shared storytelling and singing to the nighttime bonfire, giving the custom a distinctive focus on timing. If you are choosing the Hudy as a reason to travel, check the event dates for your planned travel period.

Planning your stay and hotel search

The circular hike takes approximately 3 hours and 16 minutes to walk; the Wawrzyńcowe Hudy follow an evening tradition that features a bonfire usually lit at midnight and takes place on a specific event date. Before visiting the Geo-Park, check its current operating status.
