The green Dobrodzień–Lubliniec hiking trail passes through Łagiewniki Wielkie and is about 24 kilometres long. A yellow hiking trail runs between Łagiewniki Małe and Łagiewniki Wielkie through the Wystrzyca Forest District. There is also a Neoclassical manor house, a historic park, and the parish church of św. Jana Chrzciciela. Together, these offer two perspectives on the village: hiking trails with named route connections, and buildings from different historical periods.
Hiking trails by route connection
The hiking trails offer different reference points for planning. For the green trail, its name, route through Łagiewniki Wielkie, and approximate total length are key: the Dobrodzień–Lubliniec route is about 24 kilometres long. This length applies to the entire trail, not just the section in the village. For the yellow hiking trail, by contrast, Łagiewniki Małe and Łagiewniki Wielkie are the endpoints, and its route through the Wystrzyca Forest District is the main feature. When comparing the routes, the green trail gives you a guide to its approximate total distance; for the yellow trail, the connection between the villages and the forest district are its defining features. The descriptions answer different planning questions: the green trail is distinguished by its approximate total length, while the yellow trail is defined by its two destinations and its connection to the forest district. This lets you start by choosing the route connection that best suits you.
Manor house and historic park
The manor house in Łagiewniki Wielkie was built in the Neoclassical style at the beginning of the 19th century. Neoclassical architecture draws on ancient models and places the building within a clearly named style. The historic park beside the manor house was established around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and covers about 2.5 hectares. A small pond with an island lies in the southeastern part of the park. Łagiewniki Wielkie is also home to a manor complex listed as a historic monument, dating from the 18th to the 20th century. The manor complex spans several centuries, while the manor house was built more specifically at the beginning of the 19th century.
Church and local heritage
The parish church of św. Jana Chrzciciela was built in 1968 and 1969 and is the village’s second church. Its predecessor was a wooden church that burned down in 1961. The church’s history therefore belongs to a much more recent period of construction than the history of the manor house and park, which date to around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The Regionalna Izba Pamięci i Tradycji is another local-history landmark. It is located in Łagiewniki Wielkie at ul. Lompy 22, in the church basement; the entrance is on ul. Strażacka. For directions, be sure to distinguish between the two street details: ul. Lompy 22 is the address, and ul. Strażacka is the street with the entrance. If you are planning a visit, keep both the address and the entrance in mind.
