A marked PTTK trail runs through wooded stretches of the Słupia Valley and passes several historic hydroelectric power stations; its route also goes through Debnica Kaszubska. The area also offers the architectural history of the Church of St. John the Baptist and cultural activities with different timeframes. This lets you distinguish between a nature trail, local history and scheduled programmes when planning your visit.

Trails and natural areas

The PTTK trail “Szlak Doliny Słupi” links wooded stretches of the Słupia Valley with historic hydroelectric power stations and passes through Debnica Kaszubska. Nature and the history of technology therefore feature side by side as distinct themes along the route. In the wider regional area, four hiking trails lead into the Słupia Valley Landscape Park.

At the municipality level, there are two additional protected areas: the “Źródliskowe Torfowisko” nature reserve and the “Studnia Nietoperzy” ecological protected area are located in the municipality of Debnica Kaszubska. Together with the landscape park and the wooded sections of the trail, they make nature a theme that can be explored both along specific routes and across the wider municipal area.

Visiting Wioska Kobiet

Wioska Kobiet is located in Debnica Kaszubska, within the Słupia Valley Landscape Park. Access is only possible with a prior reservation or during organised events. Take this condition into account if you include the site in your plans: it is not described as a place you can visit spontaneously. Check in advance whether a reservation or an organised event is planned for your visit.

The church and its architectural history

The Church of St. John the Baptist offers a glimpse into several historic building phases. Construction probably began in 1584. The church was initially single-naved and had a western tower, which was completed in 1604. The church was extended between 1781 and 1786. These dates therefore do not refer to a single year of completion: they mark different stages in the building’s history. If you are interested in historic architecture, you can place the building’s development in context by following this chronology, without confusing the extension with the construction of the tower.

Cultural activities with different timeframes

For the 2026/27 season, the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury is offering additional courses for children, young people and adults. The programme is seasonal; registration details may change. If a course is important to your travel plans, check the latest registration information in advance.

Another cultural project has a different status: on 23 July 2026, the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury announced “Laboratorium Młodej Kultury”, a series of artistic and creative workshops for children and young people from the municipality. At the time of the announcement, the schedule and recruitment of participants were still being developed. The announcement therefore describes a planned project, not a confirmed schedule.

The distinction matters when considering the timing: the trail and the church’s historic building phases are lasting features of the area; the additional courses are part of the 2026/27 season, while details of the workshop project were still being developed in July 2026. If cultural activities are a deciding factor for your trip, check the dates and, for the courses, the registration details.
