Stare Pole brings together sacred and industrial architectural history, cycling routes and the region’s agricultural fair. The branch church and its grounds, the settlement’s development shaped by the sugar factory complex, and cycling routes to Ząbrowo and Kraszewo offer different ways to plan a stay. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can shape your trip around cultural history, cycling or a specific event date.

Branch Church and Grounds

One of the best-preserved historic sites in Stare Pole is the branch church of Matki Boskiej KrĂłlowej Polski. Its grounds include the cemetery, the surviving high-trunk trees, a chapel and a bell tower. Together, the church, cemetery and auxiliary buildings form a distinctive cultural and historical focal point in the village.

Sugar Factory and Village Development

The sugar factory complex in Stare Pole began to take shape in 1880 as an investment by a joint-stock company. In the 19th century, it shaped the development of the settlement: production and auxiliary buildings initially extended the village plan to the west. Residential buildings for permanent and seasonal workers were subsequently added to the north. The history of the complex therefore extends beyond the factory itself to include the expansion it influenced and the housing built for its employees.

Post Office Building and Ostbahn

The post office building at ul. Sienkiewicza 3 was built in the final quarter of the 19th century, after the Ostbahn railway line had been routed through the village. In contrast to the history of the factory, the focus here is on the sequence of the railway line and the building; the sugar factory, by comparison, shaped the village plan through the expansion of production and residential buildings. Together, the two examples illustrate different aspects of Stare Pole’s development in the 19th century.

Trees at the Parish Cemetery and Other Trees

The tall trees at the parish cemetery are protected as a historic site. Several other trees in Stare Pole, especially pedunculate oaks, are also designated natural monuments. These landscape features add another perspective on the village alongside its architectural history.

Cycling Routes to ZÄ…browo and Kraszewo

Three cycling routes connect Stare Pole with ZÄ…browo and Kraszewo. Their total length is 6.5 km; in addition to providing a connection, they serve recreation and tourism. Cycling is therefore a distinct focus alongside the history of the village and its architecture.

Żuławskie Targi Rolne

For years, the Żuławskie Targi Rolne has been celebrated as a festival of agriculture and village life in the region. The edition held on 20 and 21 June 2026 included a livestock exhibition. That edition also hosted the specialist exhibition Ogólnopolski Młodzieżowy Czempionat Koni Sztumskich for the tenth time; breeding horses of this breed from six voivodeships were presented there. The programme thus featured both a livestock exhibition and a specialised horse exhibition.

Rail and Fares

Since 15 December 2024, the “Taryfa Pomorska” offer has also applied to the railway section between Stare Pole and Elbląg, towards the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. For a specific train journey, it is worth checking the timetable and fare conditions.
