Cierniki is one of the localities in the Międzybórz sołectwo. Several geographical levels are therefore relevant when planning a trip: in the municipal public transport directory dated 25 September 2024, Cierniki is listed as a bus stop; three cycling routes cross the sołectwo; and nature and cultural destinations lie in the surrounding area. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Cierniki, you can consider the locality as a specific place to stay and classify excursions according to their respective geographical locations.

Cycling routes and excursions in the municipality

Three cycling routes pass through the Międzybórz sołectwo: Trzmielewo–Jeziernik–Brzezie–Międzybórz, Międzybórz–Dzików–Breńsk–Rzeczenica, and Czarne–Międzybórz–Suszka. Their sequences of localities distinguish the regional connections from one another; their shared connection to Cierniki is through the sołectwo. Another cycling route in the municipality follows the shore of Lake Szczytno and is almost seven kilometres long. Very old trees and the lake landscape can be seen along the entire route. The choice therefore comes down to different features: the three sequences of localities or a nearly seven-kilometre lakeside route with old trees and lake views.

Kayaking is another possibility in the municipality's surrounding area. Rzewnicka Kayak Rental organises trips on routes of your choice and provides transport and professional kayaking equipment. Its offer includes several dozen kayaks and accessories, a vehicle for transporting kayakers, and several stations along the respective routes. This offers a different way to explore the municipality than the cycling network: the trips include transport and equipment services. If kayaking is a main reason for your trip, check current availability directly with the provider.

Protected areas: forest, bog and walking trail

The nearby “Międzybórz” nature reserve was established in 1961 to preserve an old mixed forest with a natural character and a predominantly beech composition for scientific and educational purposes. It covers 1.64 hectares. The dominant beech trees are about 180 years old, accompanied by pines, oaks and Douglas firs. For nature enthusiasts, the focus here is both on the purpose of the protection and on the composition of an old forest.

The “Bocheńskie Błoto” nature reserve near Sporysz offers a different natural feature. It protects a transitional bog with characteristic wetland plant communities. Forest and bog are therefore clearly distinct conservation features: here, an old mixed forest rich in beech; there, a transitional bog with wetland vegetation.

The “Cisy w Czarnem” nature reserve is frequently visited by tourists and school groups. The walking trail, which is open to pedestrians, has been refurbished and signposted on site. This makes it a different kind of visitor destination from the protected areas whose distinguishing features are primarily their forest stands or bog landscape: here, a walking trail with markings helps visitors find their way.

Neo-Gothic architecture in Międzybórz

The nearby town of Międzybórz is home to the neo-Gothic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, built in 1897. Neo-Gothic refers to the revival of Gothic architectural forms in a later building. The church thus adds an architectural feature to the surrounding area that is clearly distinct from the natural attractions.

The location remains important when choosing where to stay: the bus stop listing refers to Cierniki, the three cycling routes to the Międzybórz sołectwo, and the church and protected areas to the surrounding area. You can therefore choose Cierniki as the place to search for a holiday apartment and decide whether cycling, landscape or architecture will be your main focus for excursions.
