Osiecznica brings together several themes for a stay: the Carp Festival, historic buildings, and routes around Lake Moczydło and along the Oder. When planning, you can focus on local fishing, architecture or activities on the water, depending on your interests. Local offerings include both individual attractions and named paths and routes.

Carp Festival and Fishing

The KARP fishery organizes the Carp Festival regularly together with residents of Osiecznica. It takes place in August in Osiecznica near Krosno and highlights the area’s fishing heritage. The festival serves grilled, smoked and baked carp, as well as carp soup. If the festival is the focus of your stay, August is the month to plan around.

There is a direct connection to fishing beyond the festival, too: KARP organizes fishing competitions and sells fishing permits online. The fishery welcomes anglers and lovers of beautiful landscapes. When planning your stay, you can therefore distinguish the occasion of the Carp Festival from the offerings for fishing enthusiasts.

Church and Manor House Architecture

The branch church of Saints Peter and Paul stands on a hill in the southern part of Osiecznica, on the right bank of the Oder. Its interior is entirely lined with wood paneling, and galleries run along three walls. The church’s riverside location and the described interior details each provide a distinct architectural point of interest.

The manor house palace in Osiecznica was built around 1850 in the Neoclassical style and has retained its original exterior appearance. The façade features a recessed portico with four columns, and there is a loggia on the second upper floor. A landscaped park adjoins the palace to the north. Architecture enthusiasts can focus on the façade design and the park’s location beside the building as distinct details.

The village’s history also provides context: Osiecznica is one of the two oldest villages in the municipality of Krosno Odrzańskie mentioned in written sources. This historical context complements a look at the church and palace without shifting the focus away from their specific architectural features.

Lake Moczydło and Routes by the Water

Lake Moczydło lies northwest of Osiecznica. It is an 11.9-hectare tench-and-pike lake. The “Bagna Jeziora Moczydło” area in Osiecznica covers 6.36 hectares. Together with the landscaped park north of the palace, these are named locations that add to the picture of the local landscape.

Several routes offer different ways to explore the area. The black Czetowice–Bielów–Osiecznica–Lake Moczydło–Skórzyn hiking trail passes through Osiecznica and along the lake. A red Nordic walking loop runs from Krosno Odrzańskie via Marcinowice and Osiecznica and back to Krosno Odrzańskie. There is also an approximately 60-kilometer kayaking route on the Oder, passing through Osiecznica between Nietkowice and Połęcko.

The routes differ mainly in activity and course: the hiking trail runs along Lake Moczydło, the Nordic walking route forms a loop starting and ending in Krosno Odrzańskie, and the kayaking route follows the Oder. To choose, first consider whether you would prefer to include a hiking trail by the lake, a Nordic walking loop or a longer river route in your stay.
