Pobiedziska offers a variety of discoveries: the Skansen Miniatur Szlaku Piastowskiego showcases models of buildings along the Piast Route, while the Gród Pobiedziska offers hands-on medieval activities. A kayak route also begins at Lake Biezdruchowo; historical landmarks in town complete the picture. This gives you different options to weigh up for your stay: culture, hands-on activities, or time on the water.

Models and history lessons along the Piast Route

The Skansen Miniatur Szlaku Piastowskiego was founded in 1998. It displays around 35 models, mainly of buildings along the Piast Route. They are made to a scale of 1:20: one centimetre on the model corresponds to twenty centimetres on the building it represents. This format makes the relative sizes easy to understand and draws attention to the miniature architecture. The open-air museum also holds lively history lessons about everyday life among the first Piasts, Slavic beliefs, and facts about the Piast Route. If one of these lessons is important to your plans, check the dates in advance. The collection of models focuses primarily on buildings along the Piast Route; the history lessons broaden the focus to include the everyday life and beliefs of the first Piasts.

Historical landmarks in town

A fountain depicting Lech, Czech, and Rus stands in the market square in Pobiedziska. One of the most interesting monuments to the Greater Poland Uprising in Greater Poland is also located in the market square. The Church of St Michael the Archangel in Pobiedziska dates back to the Gothic period. These places offer distinct historical points of interest: the figures at the fountain, the monument to the uprising, and Gothic church architecture.

Activities at the Gród Pobiedziska

At the Gród Pobiedziska, visitors can operate the ten-metre-high trebuchet themselves. They can also try archery and throwing spears and axes. The site includes a medieval playground with a carousel powered by people. Compared with the open-air museum, the focus here shifts from models and history lessons to trying things out for yourself.

Kayak route and seasonal swimming beach

The “Puszcza Zielonka” kayak route starts in Pobiedziska at Lake Biezdruchowo and is about 11.3 kilometres long. There is also a seasonal swimming beach at the same lake. The route and the beach offer two different ways to spend time by the water. Water conditions and operating hours may vary by season. If you plan to include either option in your stay, check the conditions or whether the beach is open during your travel dates in advance.

Getting around and finding a hotel

The Gród Pobiedziska is halfway between Poznań and Gniezno. It is located on Voivodeship Road 194 and the Poznań–Gniezno railway line; Pobiedziska Letnisko station is on this line. These geographical details place the Gród between the two cities and along the named transport routes.
