Dąbrówka combines the history of a historic park with traces of hillforts and opportunities for outdoor activities. The town’s history is reflected in various forms: in the former palace, on information boards, in a publicly accessible model and in archaeological finds. There are also marked routes for running, cycling and Nordic walking.

A Park Between Memory and Architecture

The historic park in Dąbrówka is one of the oldest parks in the area around Poznań; its origins date back to around 1800. The park is home to a former German palace dating from the early 20th century. A commemorative plaque recalls the von Tempelhoff family, who formerly owned the estates in Dąbrówka. It was unveiled on 17 October 2017 in the palace park, on a glacial erratic beside the ruins of a neo-Gothic chapel. The historical milestones therefore range from the park’s beginnings and the palace to a specific commemorative installation in 2017.

The park is open to residents and serves as a place for recreation. If you plan to visit as a guest, check the local conditions before setting out.

Hillforts in Models and Historical Accounts

The publicly accessible open-air model of a hillfort stands near Malinowa Street, beside the primary school and the branch of the municipal library. It illustrates a Slavic hillfort in Dąbrówka. Its heyday came in the 9th and 10th centuries, before the construction of the Piast castle in Poznań. The educational trail on Parkowa Street adds to the town’s history with three information boards. Their subjects span the tribal hillfort, the Second World War and the present day.

Near Dąbrówka, on the left bank of the Wirynka, lie heavily damaged remains of a conical hillfort dating from the 9th to the 13th century. On the right bank was a concave hillfort, dated to the 5th to 8th century, which no longer exists. The banks, shapes and dates distinguish these two historical sites. The model, in turn, illustrates a hillfort with a different, clearly specified period of focus.

Marked Routes and Cycling Facilities

The Dąbrówka Crown Run includes a marked 10 km running route and a marked 7.5 km Nordic walking route. The forests around Dąbrówka, Palędzie and Zakrzewo have publicly accessible routes for running, cycling and Nordic walking. The options differ in activity and scope: the running route and the Nordic walking route each have their own marked distance, while the forest routes accommodate several forms of exercise.

The pump track in Dąbrówka is a purpose-built circuit for roadworthy BMX, dirt/slope or MTB sports bikes with at least one brake. The circuit can be ridden in both directions. For details about a specific Dąbrówka Crown Run event, check the organiser’s information, as event details may be updated.
