Visitors choosing Krotoszyn for a stay can focus on different things, from walking trails and cycling routes to the town’s history. In Wojska Polskiego Landscape Park, you can walk along the park paths; two cycling routes start in Krotoszyn, and the Regional Museum covers the town’s history and the region’s folk culture. The town hall, church and historical names add to these themes. When looking for a hotel, it helps to first consider whether you would like to spend more time outdoors or take in cultural and historical sights.

Walks and Cycling Routes

You can walk along the paths in Wojska Polskiego Landscape Park. The two cycling routes have different stated starting points and sequences of stops. “Wokół Krotoszyna” (Around Krotoszyn) starts at Krotoszyn’s Market Square and passes through Osusz, Trafary, Staw Węgielnik, Zduny, Chachalnia, Ujazd, Wodników Górny, Sulmierzyce and Chwaliszew before returning to Krotoszyn. “Dąbrowy Krotoszyńskie” (Krotoszyn Forests) starts in Krotoszyn and passes through Jasne Pole (Sędziszew), Rozdrażewek, Leśn. Sokołówka, Os. Leśn. Dąbrowa, Roszki, Orpiszew, Leśn. Borowina, Chruszczyny and Chwaliszew. Chwaliszew appears in both route descriptions. For “Wokół Krotoszyna,” the return to Krotoszyn is explicitly part of the route; for “Dąbrowy Krotoszyńskie,” the starting point in Krotoszyn and the listed stops are described. This makes it possible to distinguish the routes by the places they pass through.

Regional Museum and Architectural History

The permanent exhibition at the Regional Museum in Krotoszyn covers the town’s history from prehistoric times to the present, as well as the folk culture of the Krotoszyn region in the 19th and 20th centuries. It spans six rooms and a monastery corridor. The museum is housed in the former monastery building of the Trinitarian Order, built around 1733 on the site of a church cemetery. The exhibition thus offers a look at different historical periods, while the building itself provides another point of historical interest.

The town hall and church also offer their own architectural points of interest. Krotoszyn Town Hall combines Baroque and pseudo-Renaissance elements. The Church of Saints Fabian and Sebastian contains an architectural altar from the second half of the 18th century. The descriptions emphasize different aspects: the town hall’s mix of styles and the altar’s date. Visitors interested in architectural history can explore these as distinct topics.

Historical Connections

The butchers’ guilds in Krotoszyn were established shortly after the town was founded in the early 15th century. Another historical connection is the name “wędzonka krotoszyńska”: it has been known since the transition from the 1950s to the 1960s and takes its name from the district town of Krotoszyn on the Kalisz Upland. The two references point to different periods—the town’s early history and a name that became known later. Together with the exhibition and architectural details, they offer a way to explore several aspects of Krotoszyn’s history without prescribing a particular itinerary.
